When we lived with them, she used to email him too. I mean she was downstairs and she'd send him an email.

That is why your son doesn't communicate dear, you never really taught him how.

I'm not really mad, more confused.

My MIL sent my husband a rather mean email yesterday. She emailed him at 11:00 in the morning and then she emailed him again a few hours later giving him ####### about not replying to her email. We were out ALL day.

In her email she said how she feels that he might as well live in Alaska because he never calls her to tell her what's going on in our lives. I am confused because we visit with them at least once a month, she calls him every weekend and they talk. I don't know what else she wants. She is upset that she finds out more about him on facebook. Um thats what facebook is for... to keep up to date with peoples lives. He posted about how he had a cold and she got upset that he never told her.

Then at the end of her email she throws in: "PS: You should really learn how to differentiate between the spelling of there/their because it makes you look uneducated"

Like was that really necessary?

I don't really think it was necessary. :(

Also, she can come visit us, but she never has. I will stay out of it because its my husbands battle and not mine, but it still upsets me because she can be cruel at times.

Apparently she is also upset that we're going to Canada for holidays and not staying here. We live here... why can't we spend holidays with my family in Canada?

Anyways I just had to let it out. Carry on.

given that ps, i can understand why he may not be communicating with her very much.

We spend birthdays over there, have dinners over there, my husband was there last week. We were there a few weeks ago for dinner. My mom was here two weeks ago so last weekend he didn't call home. We were busy.

I don't know what she expects. We're married. We're kind of living our lives. It just doesn't help when she adds this drama in on in there.

She's just high maintenance.

That sounds so much like my brother in law's parents.... he is an only child, and if he doesn't call like 3 times a week they get SO UPSET. They don't know how to e-mail but they'll call and blame my sister.... they think she's telling him not to call or something. Ummm well your son is a grown 36 year old man, he can figure out how to get in touch with his parents himself. And god forbid if he spends any holiday with our side of the family, they literally won't speak to him for weeks. It's gotten so bad now that my sister doesn't answer the phone when they call and they haven't spoken to her since September, they said ever since he got married they don't talk as much. HELLO he's married now, things change in life when you're married, they should accept that. You have your own life and own family, things change.

These parents are confused - they didn't have a girl, they had a boy.

Cards should read - Congratulations! It's a Boy! and he is going to grow up and get a girlfriend and a wife and too bad for you

My inlaws mother-in-law is obsessed with her son as well. In fact, I actually questioned whether it would be a good idea to marry my husband because of her. I was thinking "Is he a mamma's boy?" "Or is she just insane?" It turns out she's got a screw loose. Heck.... she's got more than one screw loose..... she's a flipping nutbar.

P.S. Trailmix.... you'll notice I used the correct form of loose/lose.

Yea I don't know. I am just getting sick of it. We go over there a lot. My mother was down here for a week, maybe she had an issue with my mom being here? I don't know.

She doesn't even like her own husbands family. I think she's just really insecure. What bothers me is my husband sends her back an email telling her how sorry he is, when in reality he should just grow a backbone and stick up for himself a little more.

She is allowed to act the way she does because both of her sons and her husband allow it. She's got some kind of magic. :P

Okay, I've just spent the past 3 hours cleaning the guest bathroom and bedroom (and I'm not finished yet) and I am furious as all getout. Let's just say that my inlaws (mainly MIL) have risen? to the dubious distinction of.....

EVER!!!!!!!

'Nuff said.

Uggghhh! That's terrible! Let's hope they don't come back for a long while.

Thats awful. I couldn't leave a mess behind anywhere! Even in a hotel I strip the beds and clean up before I leave. Its embarrassing to leave your mess for someone else to clean up not to mention disrespectful.
