Stereotypes are stereotypes, that's all.

I have a Jewish female boss from Toronto whom I LOVE TO PIECES. She has seriously been the greatest boss anyone could ever ask for. She is amazingly smart, empowering and mentors all her employees to success. I also have another female boss who is my direct report who I also love to pieces.

So not all stereotypes are true.

So not all stereotypes are true.

1. Yes, I'm pretty sure I said in my last post that all stereotypes are not true.

2. Jewish people in the tri-state area are much different then Jewish people in many regions of Canada. There are many reasons for that.

I will leave it at that and not continue to defend myself or my opinions.

:ot2: (oh, wait, this thread has no official topic :D )

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Oh and the female boss thing?? I've been a boss many times and I HOPE my former employees don't say that about me..

Gosh... I really try hard to be professional and not allow my emotions or my 'time o' the month' affect how I relate to any of my coworkers.. and I'm not into playing games at work.. at all.. that is silly..

There can be more than one "prettiest girl" in the room.. it's a lie we've been told since childhood that makes women compete on every level... we're all beautiful and we all have great gifts and strengths to bring to the table :)

I'm never ever going to be a bridesmaid.. ever.. sucky.. :crying:

wow.. that must mean I suck at being a friend right? Another friend announced her engagement a few weeks ago and she asked me to SING at her wedding.. not stand.. (If I had a dime for everytime THAT happened).. The only wedding I was asked to be a MOH got canceled.. well it got bumped up and no one stood at the wedding.

I never even stood at my BFF's wedding :( bah.. that's frustrating.. I guess i was there when the eloped.. but that doesn't count.. I have no sisters, and my bros are all married (again.. I SANG.. but didn't stand)... blech.. I HATE singing at weddings have I mentioned that?

I was a bride 2x's though.... maybe that is part of the issue.. none of the girls that stood with me the 1st time ever asked me to be in their wedding parties.. bummer..

I suck.

No no, my love. You are lucky! I don't want any one to go through what I'm going through right now with being a bridesmaid. Some times it's better just to be a guest and not in the wedding party!!!

But hey, don't count yourself out yet. I'm sure there will be more chances!

There can be more than one "prettiest girl" in the room.. it's a lie we've been told since childhood that makes women compete on every level... we're all beautiful and we all have great gifts and strengths to bring to the table :)

I agree.

And I think that you should treat your employees with respect, ESPECIALLY your assistant. Any one who belittles and looks down at their own employee is not a nice person.

This is a woman that has "shushed" me before in front of other people, more than once.

Eman, maybe you're such an amazing singer that's why they ask you to do that instead? Anyway, look on the bright side. Being a MOH or bridesmaid brings alot of work, and what if she's a bridezilla like Amanda's sis in law then you'll be sorry you asked

Ahhh but as a musician.. ya just get tired of doing music at EVERY wedding you go to.. ya know? And I've worked with a lot 'o brides and they are nasty to EVERYONE involved in the wedding not just the bridesmaids :) tee hee.. I've dealt with my fair share of bridezillas from the music end of things..

I guess if I was a photographer it would be the same way.. just get tired of taking your stuff to each wedding..

I agree with you on both points, I was just offering a different perspective as well and totally trying to back you up by saying that yes stereotypes exist but aren't always true (but totally agree that they sometimes are very true) The tri-state area is its own world in itself!! I can't wait to join you

 No you don't! Stay away! Live a normal life while you can!

I'm just kidding. It has it's benefits. Especially with you being in NYC, you are going to have such a blast. I'd love to live there if I could properly afford a nice place. I need space and space in NY = LOOT. But it really is a great city,.

I think the Male vs. Female boss dynamic is very prevalent in my experiences. I look at it a bit differently though....... Women are insanely competitive with each other when it comes to work and dating.

I think the Male vs. Female boss dynamic is very prevalent in my experiences. I look at it a bit differently though....... Women are insanely competitive with each other when it comes to work and dating.

That is the case when a woman forgets about her greatest strength – the feminine power (creative/inclusive/community/etc) – and dons the male (aggressive/destructive/exclusive) attitude.

Sigh...it's really a shame.

Women in the male dominated board room (so to speak) have thought to compete with male counterparts and to be heard that they had to be like men.

Some women have figure it out though and gone back to being what's natural.

Ok what is up with businesses and their convoluted stories?

We have Culligan bottled water delivered every month - so far they have been great. We have a schedule for delivery and they always call the night before delivery day - all good.

So yesterday was delivery day - good because we ran out of water Wednesday.

So he didn't turn up and they didn't call - I emailed them last night - no response - well emailed whomever answered me last time.

I call a little while ago - ohhh yes, well the guy who is doing that route is on holiday and a new guy replaced him and his Uncle and Grandmother died on the same day so he had to go home early.

So there is someone rescheduling everyone but it won't be until next week. Oh and our computer system is down, but I will call you later and let you know when it will be

Umm ok well

- I do not want to hear the story - made up or otherwise - I do not know this person, if it is true, it is absolutely none of my business.

- Why did I have to call you - why didn't you call me?

- And don't ask me if I want to up my order by an extra bottle since we ran out of water Wednesday and delivery wasn't until Thursday.

I can't stand when they make up these stories (or like I said, even if they are true) - you are a business!

Its also terrible customer service to let the customer know things are wrong or whatever. Its not the customers problem. Apologize and fix the issue but don't give excuses.

I know I can't do anything about what people choose to wear. But I am allergic to perfumes and unfortunately they give me really bad headaches. So when someone comes near me wearing loads of it, I get sick.

I understand some people like to smell funny but people should really be considerate of people with allergies. If you're leaving a trail of scent stench, you've probably gone too far.

Sorry but I now have a headache thanks to someone who decided to bathe in the stuff today.

I mean is it really necessary?? The smell isn't even remotely natural... does soap and water not work? I know I'll probably get called a prude for thinking this way but I just don't get why people use insane amounts of the stuff. Its not even attractive when someone is wearing loads of it.

I think putting too much on is quite tacky, but a reasonable amount is just fine. I just hate it when people take a "French Bath", put on loads of cologne/perfume on instead of taking a shower :X
