I wasn't trying to come across as condescending. I just didn't want to bring it up because it's a whole can of worms that *I* wasn't wanting to open.

What can of worms - that people here are too ignorant to know what processed sugar is? That's the part that came across as condescending.

I'm really not trying to be argumentative here, I refuse to argue about HFCS - just pointing out how I read it.

I'm sorry it's coming across like that to you but that is the way with text, I suppose. I'm not going to go into a long drawn out explanation of my post, but suffice to say, if I was going to point out someone's ignorance - I would. I wouldn't pussyfoot around it.

I am not doing good today. I want the waiting to be over.

It's difficult to believe that the Montreal consulate is _so_ busy that they can't schedule a couple dozen interviews a day.

I know there are loads of people in the same boat as me, but sometimes it's just too brutal.

We've been waiting so long, and especially when we look at other countries - or people who were lucky enough to be living out west (CA USCIS office)...

Just today I saw someone who got their NOA2 in one quarter the time we waited.

Frustrating isn't a strong enough word.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

You're almost there Varba, hang in there! The last month is pretty brutal, but once you're scheduled, you'll feel a huge weight lifted.

The sad thing is that they probably are scheduling as many interviews as they can. I was so shocked to see how busy it actually gets in the Consulate. VJ only accounts for like 5% of the people getting interviews.

Just wanted to say, I hear you Varba...

This part of the waiting is the HUGEST drag ever. If it makes you feel any better, you're not alone in it. I've been with my guy for 7 years and am pretty used to the long distance thing -- this last few months has been really hard and I have zero patience left.

jsut wanted to say... .

We're on different visas and such but I have empathy for you and all the others in our situation.

It'll happen... .

Oh, it is. I'm happy that we managed to sneak a weekend away together in. :)

I guess I just lost my cool when I saw someone posting about how their immigration is going to take less than 4 months.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Ugh, people at work are really something sometimes. I've had the flu for the better part of the last two weeks. It really got bad this week and as such I have been home sick. Well, I don't have the option to stay home today because some work is time sensitive and simply has to be done. On fridays, the office is pretty empty, so there are only 2 other people in my department at the moment. One of them feels the need to come into my office every 5 minutes to tell me about some flu remedy she's heard about or read on the internet. The other one is convinced I have swine flu and is wearing a surgeons mask. I was walking down the hall a few minutes ago and the lady with the surgeons mask walked by me. When I got within 10 feet of her, she made a point of moving over as close to the wall as possible. I think i'm going to go cough all over her phone receiver when she's at lunch. But then again, if she got sick, that would validate her paranoia. Hmmmmmm do I act like a responsible adult and just ignore it, or do I let the as$hole out?

I am a firm believer that if you are sick and contagious you should stay home. Making the rest of the office sick only slows things down more.

But I understand your situation, and at least you picked a day where there's not many people in. I'm the only one on my team that isn't sick, 3 of my co-workers decided to come in in their contagious stage. I was not happy, but I haven't seen them much this week! But I didn't wear a mask... just used a lot of hand sanitizer.

Regarding interviews in Mtl--When I was there in 2004, the waiting area was FULL of people awaiting interviews, yes some brought family members with them, but they were busy. They do a lot more there than just relationship visas. Not saying "you" but many forget that.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
