Ugh tried to have a meeting at work with this old lady who basically belittles me constantly and is just really mean. She is a little old lady, and I called her "mean" at one point and she picked up her chair and threw it across the room. A LITTLE OLD LADY!

I have officially... seen it all.

Anyways she walked out and apparently "quit" and everyone is saying I did the place a favor... but I don't think I did. That wasn't my intention, I just don't think you can go through life treating people the way she was treating people. She has worked there for 10 years as a receptionist and is always finding problems with everything I do as well as things that others do, and when I tried to talk to her she was just very condescending... so I called her mean... and she threw a chair. INSANE.

OMG. She threw a chair!? Someone has anger management issues. She could get fired for that, even if she did quit.

I don't know why, but no one has had the balls to fire her. She's just a really mean old lady, her husband walked out on her and her two kids walked out on her once they were grown.

I have always tried to be super nice to her and try really hard to keep her happy but she just continuously badgers me and the other people who work there. Everyone complains but no one does anything! I was just like: "Okay I am going to do something!" there is no way I am going to go to work every day and walk on egg shells because of some miserable person. I don't care how long you've worked there you have no right to treat people that way.

My vent...

1) Americans asking to see my ID when I pay with my scotiabank debit card. The only place a name appears on the card is my signature and I dont think they can read it.

2) The Delta representative at the Charleston SC airport who asked for my ID, I gave him my Ontario Driver's license at which point he asked me if I lived in California...

Seriously? It says Canada on the bottom right corner.

I often get asked for photo ID here when using credit or debit card, probably because of all the fraud.

There is an Ontario in California, but yeah that's pretty dumb.

I actually wrote "SEE ID" on the signature part of my credit card and debit card just in case anyone steals it.

Wow, you just have to wonder what drove her to that level of frustration and anger.

My Aunt from BC has that on one of her cards but the LCBO in Ontario refused it when we there in September..... they have a written policy on that. She was livid. And by the time she was done with them, they were livid too. I just wanted the heck out of there. LOL

I'm so used to being able to pick up my prescriptions 3 months at a time. It's such an inconvenience here how you have to go back every 30 days. I went to Rite Aid since I'm going to Canada tomorrow, and they said they wouldn't fill it as it's too early. I explained I'll be gone nearly 2 weeks and I need it. They said sorry, call your insurance. Which I did, and they let me fill it afterwards, but it's just a pain in the bum. I wonder why they don't let you do 3 months at a time here.

Try MedCo.com! They do 3 month prescriptions. If your Dr. only gives you a 1 mointh script, ask for a 3-month if it is a "maintenance" script. You can even take care of the refill online. They're really great and take most (if not all) insurance programs. I used to use them when I lived in AZ. But, the script I get now automatically comes as a 3-month, so there's no advantage.

Maybe this will work for you, Jill!

I'd be livid too. The card has my name on it, I would rather them ask me for ID and make sure that the cc holder is ME and not some teef!

Unfortunately its the same in our store. We have been told its illegal for us to take cards that dont have a signature. You can't sign it in front of us, we can't take it if you do. We also can't take the SEE ID ones because they are not valid signatures, even if we see your DL which has your signature imbedded into it. Im not sure if its the merchant agreement with our payment company or what but they are sticklers.

I even have a card with my signature permanently digitally printed on the front of the card and the front of the card even has my picture on it! Funny thing is, even with the pic on the front and the permanent signature, still hafta show my DL. <sigh> When I worked retail a gazillion years ago, we were allowed to take the "SEE ID" cards if they could provide a valid DL and another form of payment with a signature on it (I guess that was for "just in case"??).

Well lucky I haven't had any troubles yet. If someone didn't take it I'd just say: "Your loss" and walk out and go to the next place. :P

When I have to sign on one of those digital pads at stores, I draw a happy face... and no one ever says anything! However I should add that I come from an area where customer service isn't really a priority... half the time I am checking out of a store the clerk is on their phone texting away.

Nope. Mind you I can count on one hand the amount of times I have done that... but I know the signature should show up on the screen shouldn't it?? I don't know. Maybe the clerk doesn't see it. I always thought I would be brightening some poor souls day up who is sitting in the billing office of the department store.

You know what I have a hard time getting used to here? Giving my debit card and them asking me: cash or credit. It confuses me!! It's all coming out of the same place isn't it?? And we don't get to use those touch pads that they'd hand to us in Canada. I just give them my debit card and they scan it and voila! All done!

BUT in Canada if I try to use my debit card, they see the "VISA" logo and when I scan it myself as a debit card they ALWAYS take it from me and go: "OH its a credit card" Even though it's not. I try to explain it but I find it doesn't go anywhere.

Oh and I notice that they don't call bank machines ATM's around here. So many times I ask someone where an ATM is and they look at me like I have 3 heads. They call it a mac machine.

:o

Most of the stores here check the signature on the pad (which prints out on your receipt) against the signature on your credit card.

Never really had an issue. One of these days they'll say something, someone will and I'll say: "Just wanted to make sure you were paying attention" :P

Also I have used my MIL's card... I have used my husbands card as well, and I have signed my own name. I have NEVER had an issue using a card.

Thats what prompted me to put SEE ID on mine. Its so easy for ANYONE to use someone elses card.

I totally agree with that, my debit card says Visa on it too and when Glen came to visit me in Canada he'd try and use it as debit which never worked with the stores. And I'd never heard of mac machine until I moved here!
