Wow, Trailmix. This is crazy. I probably would have had a meltdown. Did you hear back from her? Did you ever get washed? Good thing you don't have kids there. Holy moly.

 (and I did have a bit of a meltdown)

You know, really I just had to laugh right now - honestly this is the silliest thing - the no water - people barging in to your apartment - it's too silly.

No, she has not replied to my email. The other day when I wrote to her and asked her where the shutoff valve is for the outside water (because if we even have one in here I suspect it is in the spare room - which is full of stuff against the wall) - she did not reply. You know what I think about that - I suspect they don't know where the water valve is - so they are looking for it - unless it is hidden under the heat register, it's not in here - however - if they want to move all the stuff to look - whatever.

So I have come to the conclusion that if she doesn't have a good answer, or any answer, for an email - she just doesn't reply at all.

I'm really bummed out. My boss is retiring in December, we've known that for a little while...

I was hoping to get someone in her position that was super qualified to alleviate some of my stress since I've really been carrying the entire department on my own for the past 6 months or so.

I found out that her replacement is going to be someone I know and I've heard he's kind of crappy to his female employees and orders them around instead of asking them to do things.

It's not a big deal but there is another position that has opened up in another department that I'm qualified for...and it's for internal application only..and I wonder if I should apply...

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Yes! Apply, apply, apply!

There is no sense remaining in an area where you are unhappy. Life is too short.

I second that apply! Worse case scenario you decide you don't really want the job after you get all the details - best case, it's right up your alley and you find a nice job for yourself!

You are trying to make it a happier place? You think that someone with something positive to say might lighten the mood in there? You want to represent the people that aren't all doom and gloom and feel the need to trash Obama and/or GWB 25 times a day? You want to start a thread that has zero sexual innuendo?

Well it's not that I hate my job...I mean, hey, at least I have one! I feel very fortunate and I've really tried to take it in my stride. But, I often stay late, without lunch breaks, etc. and as our department continues to struggle with the actual facilities, I'm not sure how much I want to be involved.

If I want to apply, I have to apply soon...but I've heard around here when you apply for internal postings, rumors swirl around and it may come back to bite you if you don't get it and you stick in your current position. :/

Be up front with your supervisor and give them a heads up that you are applying for a posted position. If they value your skills they may become concerned at the thought of losing you and will step up their efforts to ensure they don't. If they make things more difficult for you, you will know that you made the right choice. Do not listen to rumours. They are almost always spread by disgruntled employees who believe it is not their own actions which have generated the manner in which they are treated.

I really hate people at work who think that if they kiss enough as$ and tattle on every minor transgression that people do that they will get some sort of promotion. It truely is sickening watching the posturing for a promotion. So much so that I'm considering throwing a wrench into their plans with a bit of information disemination myself

I really really hate back to school night. I know why they do it, I know why they should go. But to expect me to sit there in a chair built for a 10 year old for two hours while you go on about what my son will learn throughout the year.

It always seems that no matter how early you get there, securing a parking spot is near impossible. What time do these crazy moms start to arrive??

Before I even get into the school some peppy mom is already walking up to me asking me if I have considered joining the PTA. I cringe... wait did I cringe inside or outside... did she see me cringe? Wait, what did she just say?? I was just worried whether or not I cringed aloud. Oh damnit, just shake your head and say 'no thank you' and move on.

What happens when you have to pee? You get to use the midget toilets. Yep you sit on them and your knees practically hit your chin. So make sure you go before you get there or you'll stand over one going: "Hmmmm"

Then it's time to meet all of his teachers and I don't really know what to think, wow I am older than some of them. How weird is that? Some of these teachers are fresh out of college and some still bare the marks of their previous "style" with their asymmetrical hair cuts. Those khakis and cardigans are't hiding a thing.

I try to act impressed but I'm not and I find myself down skipping the rest of the evening to sit in the gym and eat the complimentary day old donuts and drink the complimentary watered down coffee.

I understand the point of back to school night. But I didn't come to meet teachers, I figure I will in a couple of weeks at parent/teacher interviews. I didn't come to see my son's classroom, he shows me every day I pick him up. I didn't go to see what he'll be learning, he'll tell me. I went because Ethan said he would be really upset if I didn't show up... and that's the only reason I go to these damned things.

Oh but I know I'm married and all but my son's music teacher is absolutely stunning. STUNNING!

Donne moi une poptart!

so I get a call from my mom today and she says she opened a piece of mail of mine that looked important... it was from the Revenue Services of BC.. it said that they had tried to contact me and now they were going to send me to collections for medical services premiums I had not paid..

my mom said she got other mail from them but she thought it was just junk mail and had been planning on mailing it to me eventually..

the thing is the last tax return I sent was in 2006 because I had some income in 2005 (I moved to the US in March 05)... and I used the forms for people who are living in the US and I am also pretty sure on that return or the one before I put the date I was leaving or left Canada...

I have not filed a tax return since 2006 because I had no other Canadian income so I have no idea where they came up with the premium payments I was supposedly supposed to make

my mom gave me the info so I guess I have to call them tomorrow..
