The Vent - Part 2

Ok, so this is a gross cleaning story - so if you hate gross cleaning stories - please do not read this!

So my Mom is in the hospital (feeling much better today btw) - so yesterday we were sitting in the er waiting room while they were doing some tests.

As we are sitting there I see the person who cleans walking down the hallway towards us (we are sitting opposite the public washrooms - individual ones).

Now the first thing I think is - why is she wearing cleaning gloves while walking around? Now we all know that those gloves are to protect her hands, not the public, but it still seemed inappropriate to be wearing dirty gloves around the hospital.

Anyway, she walks up to her cart and gets a cloth out and a spritzer bottle. First she wipes off the sink. Then the toilet, then the hand rail, then around the edge of the garbage. I never did figure out the garbage part as basically she was wiping the bag that hangs over the side? She then took the bag out and threw it away and replaced it.

Then she goes to the next bathroom, I can't really see her - but she has the same cloth.

There is no need to wonder why people get viruses and bacterial infections in hospitals.

I'm proud of you Len. I read that 'series' as well and had to bite back an answer repeating what everyone else had already said. Live and learn - and he has got a lot of learning ahead of him!

I know. I have a pretty strong will power though. I am not going to buy another one after this. First of all, American cigarettes taste like a$$, and second of all, I am not paying 7.30 for 20 cigarettes again.

Oh and thirdly.. my health.

Gotta love my priorities.

Yay! But wow. 7.30 for 20 ciggies. They're much cheaper here.

Okay, I had to go back and re-read what you wrote. I read it totally backwards! I thought something had happened and you were the one flipping out and someone else (your husband?) was trying to calm you down.

Carla - good luck with the colonoscopy. The prep is absolutely the worst of it - the procedure itself is nothing! They will give you an anaesthetic - some people get knocked out by it (I did) but some are able to stay awake and watch. I so wanted to do that! Ah well. It is definitely a good thing to get done - just wish the prep could be made less horrible.

Oh please do not buy another pack! I wish my will power was as strong, I can't count how many times I have quit, with the longest being 4 months. I NEED to quit, I am sick of the taste, smell, stigma, and American cigarettes SUCK!!

I'm not sleeping right and I'm not sure why. I fall asleep fine but I wake up between 2:30 am to 4:00am and just stay away. I feel hung over when I go to work.

I have been smoking on the balcony and like I said, I haven't really been smoking a lot. But I guess the stench sticks, so I just played stupid.

And then this morning.. STUPID me put a cigarette out in the planter yesterday and he was watering the plants and was like: "What is this??"

I played even more dumb and was like: "Oh... maybe the guy downstairs threw it up to our balcony and it landed there!"

He didn't question me any further and I HATE lying so on the way to work I said goodbye and threw them away... after I had one more of course.

Good for you! My fiance hates that I smoke, mostly because his parents do. Sometimes the temptation is ridiculous, I am going to have to cut out any forms of coffee and alcohol, they just go too good together!

Other vent: People who go to meetings unprepared and need lots of copies and insist on standing right by your side while you do it, and then the copier breaks and you're trying to fix it... while they stand there waiting. You try to tell them that you'll bring them their copies when you fix the printer and they insist that it's okay, and continue to stand beside you while you curse out the copier.

I just wanted to look at them and say: "You know there's a kinkos down the road"
