On saturday, we went to this Pet Fair in the city that I work in. They were having free microchip service, so we brought our little chihuahua to get it done. When we were there, Mel spotted a cute little chihuahua mix and we decided to adopt her. They tell us that she is 18 months old, spayed, vaccinated, and housebroken. She is fine on sunday, but has a bit of a cough, so we take her to the vet for a checkup. Turns out, she's only 6-7 months old, and has kennel cough. To make things even more fun...... she's not housebroken. I'm not upset at the dog, just a bit annoyed at the shelter people for being so misleading. Now I have to try to call them to warn them about the kennel cough so they can call the other people who adopted dogs that day who were in the pen with her. :/

Ah, good for you for giving the little one a home. That is a pretty big mix-up though! Hopefully, she will pull through the kennel cough without a problem and will become housebroken soon. She's a lucky little dog to have had you find her.

And free microchip service? Wow - I'd definitely take advantage of that!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I called the administrative department of the animal control office for the county earlier and got transferred around a few times. One of the lower level people pointed out to me that they have a 7 day return policy. Seriously? I know the guy was just doing his job, but I got a little angry. This isn't a toy you buy at the store and can just return it if you don't like it. I'm still waiting to hear back from the deputy director.

 Autumn that is excellent!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard
