Curbside is GREAT! I use it at Newark frequently. They don't seem to weight the bags at all ;)

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I'm trying to think. Now that you mention it, I've only ever seen it with domestic flights. We had to go inside for international flights.

I've never been able to use curbside check-in when flying from Texas to Canada, so I have to assume it's only there for domestic flights.

Interestingly enough, some airlines count Canada under the "domestic" banner. I'd prefer that, actually. It'd cut down on the taxes and fees when flying back and forth. :P

I have used curbside with Northwest when flying out of Reagan to Saskatoon! I find they rarely weight the bags, lol

I find if you give them a good enough tip they won't notice.

I just show a little extra leg!!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I had a phone interveiw today that made me want to swear. I think the stupid woman had only read my cover letter and not my resume. When she started to ask me about my last position, she all of a sudden asked "Wait, were you in Bermuda working for that company?" I could tell that was really unexpected for her and she didn't quite from the shock throughout the rest of our call.

She says she'll forward my resume to the VP Marketing....yeah, right.

so for the last month or so I have been squirreling away money for our trip to San Diego in a few weeks... well, wouldn't you know, now there is something wrong with hubby's car.. it is either the battery or the alternator... I am hoping for the battery because that is an easier, cheaper fix... but there goes some of the money I have saved for our trip :(

have him take it to an auto parts store like o'reilly or autozone, they can test the battery and alternator for you. if battery, that's an easy swap.

he took it to the mechanic this morning and it was just the battery... paid them 100 bucks for a new battery and for installation.. could have done it himself for 70 bucks but he didn't have time because he had to get to work....

when we bought the car back in October we had problems with the battery but the dealer replaced the battery, I had assumed they had put a new one in but the other day my hubby informed me that they had just replaced it with a used one from another car ..:o

Glad it was something easily fixed like a new battery. A few years ago I had a new battery replaced in the car after I kept having dead batteries. Then I had a dead battery again! I took it back, they tested the battery and said it was fine and said they had no idea what was wrong. (Sears auto - grrr!). Anyway, I took it to an electrical specialist. Seems that when Sears replaced the battery they didn't think it was important enough to replace the corroded battery cables too. It wasn't the battery that was the problem - it was the cables not able to make the connections- and they couldn't figure that one out!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

My vent is about ..... ME! I'm annoyed with myself. I usually think I am pretty nonjudgmental and tolerant of others. But I just got off the phone with my dad and he told me he just started dating someone who happens to be 2 years younger than me. My dad is 71 and normally dates people close to his age. I'm 34. For the most part, I think I don't really care, as long as he is happy .... but I am really pissed off at the part of me that JUST KEEPS THINKING ABOUT THIS AND FEELING A BIT WEIRDED OUT!!! Grrrr. I just want to make my brain shut off.

Yeah I think it's totally normal to feel wierd about it.... It would make me feel wierd too, knowing my Dad was dating someone who could be his daughter. But I think it's really cool how you are trying to be happy for him and accepting of the situation :) I'm sure he appreciates the support!

Believe me, I know how you feel.

While in the hospital and getting treated for lung cancer, my Mom had a physical therapist. My Mom died in 2005 and shortly thereafter, my Dad started DATING that very same physical therapist. To make matters worse, she was in her early 30s while my Dad was in his 50s.

Just him dating someone that much younger would be weird enough, but the same woman who helped take care of my Mom? That seems a little... odd, to say the least. My Dad said he never "got together" with the physical therapist while my Mom was still alive, but a few years later he admitted to cheating on my Mom with multiple women. So I have difficultly taking his word on that.

I'd be very weirded out as well. While I think we all want our parents to be happy, that's a huge age difference. I don't know if he's dated someone that young before, but really...what do they have in common? They didn't go to school around the same times, they probably don't listen to the same type of music, they grew up in different eras. I don't think it's age appropriate at all. People are usually attracted to other people by common interests., shared experiences. When you get older, I think the age difference gets larger, yes. I wouldn't think it was odd if your Dad was dating someone in their 50's, or even late 40's maybe, but someone who is 32 is a LOT younger. Keep us up to date on this one!

Oh, yikes!! I would totally be weirded out about that one. When I was dating I kept getting asked out by men who were the same age or younger than my children. I couldn't get past the age difference. I mean, I really liked some of them and such, but the mere knowledge that these men were my children's age was a real "Ew" moment for me. I don't think some people have that filter, though, so try not to take it too personally. Your Dad is probably feeling flattered that a young woman is interested in him. Once the differences start to become an issue they'll probably settle down and rethink it.
