Spirit, I'm sorry you were treated like that at the POE. I've had that happen to me a number of times at both land and air POE's. Twice.... at one land and one air POE..... they apologized to me and said I just happened to be the lucky candidate who was tagged for a random check. Apparently it comes up on their screens. The more frequently you travel the better the odds that you'll get hit. Yeah, it's a pain in the behind, but I understand the reasoning behind it. Sorry it was you. (F)

Okay, so before we can apply to remove conditions on my husband's green card, we need to get certified court records from a stupid DUI he got in the early 80's when he was 20 or something. So, we sent a faxed request to the court several weeks ago and have not received anything. So my husband called today to follow up, and apparently the court had to send out for it (I am assuming since the records are so old, they are housed elsewhere or something) and the court has not yet received the documents. They promised they would notify us as soon as they receive the records, but they also added that the court system is very short staffed and backlogged .... which freaks me out, as I wanted to get this application in ASAP. His green card expires in June and I wanted to have this application in the mail by now. Argh!!!

Record requests must be responded to within a specific amount of time. Not quite sure about court records but I know that college and university records requests have a 4 week response time. Might pay to check that timeline out so you know when it's appropriate to escalate it to the next level of authority.

I really don't care if I am 30 years old and a grown woman but...

I really miss my mom. I have been crying silently off and on since she left. Everything just feels better when I have both her and Mike together in one place, I hate this distance. Doesn't matter where I go, I'll end up hurting someone.

The grass is also always greener on the other side.

(((((((((((((Sprailenes))))))))))))))))))

He didn't need a copy of this when he was going through the visa process? Could you not just use of copy of what you had then? Just a thought...

Gosh, that would be great if you already had that, Autumn!

Awwww I totally feel your pain, and it doesn't matter your age. I often wish so bad I lived in the same city as all my family and friends AND husband... It would be so wonderful, and cheaper! When my Mom left at Christmas I was in a funk for a bit, I felt so sad and cried because I missed her so.... I talk to her literally every day on the phone and it helps, but it's not the same as sitting down for a cuppa tea and the wonderful hugs she gives. I just want to be able to drop by for Sunday dinner and not have to make travel plans just to see her.

Drat! It looks like my image hosting site is down - address can't be found - and my photos are now missing from my signature :( . I hope it isn't permanent . . . any suggestions about another easy image hosting site where I can upload photos and think link them to here?

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

@ Carla - It said a certified copy of court records, which I took to mean an original copy from the court. I have several copies from what we had submitted before (yeah, I am ####### and made not just one but 3 copies!), but I thought it had to be another "original" document. I think I will check it out though, if it can be a copy. That would make it easier!

@ Nev - I totally understand. Even though I am the USC, my mom lives in CT part of the year and in Florida the rest. I wish she was in the next town over just so we could do normal things.

awww Nev *hugs*

I totally understand. I think thats the thing I am dreading most....well that and if I get my visa before the end of the year explaining that I won't be there for my last christmas living in the house (I don't want to drive across country in the middle of winter if it can be helped). I forsee broken hearts all around.

Thanks guys, its all good, I bought a pie on the bakery on the way home. Pie makes everything better... for a little while anyways. The good thing though is this is a site and everyone understands that missing feeling, no matter what side of the fence we're on.

for sure. Im very glad i found this site, I have to thank a friend of mine who went through all this last year. She found me on another crappy board and said she couldn't bear to leave me there. I'm so glad she steered me in this direction, most helpful and caring people I have ever met. Its funny too how you get so excited or sad for people you have never met when they are going through things on here too. Its like a big family of strangers

edit - I totally forgot. What kind of pie is it Nev? If its a good one can I have a piece?

It's so true. I have a few insensitive friends back home, that have once or twice said something rude along the lines of "well why don't you just move back then" after I stated I missed whatever in Canada. "Oh, if you only understood" I want to say! If only it were that easy. I'd like them to walk in our shoes for one day, and see how it is. But here, people understand what you're going through.

Dutch apple pie... it reminds me of apple crumble though, its weird. The bakery was out of apple.

When I walked in the lady said: "No apple pie left today!"

I don't know whether I should have felt flattered or embarrassed that she knew what kind of pie I wanted

But at least one day a week we have pie for dessert. :P

Yea my mom and I were talking last week and we were talking about the one thing that would make us feel satisfied and she said: "All I would want is for you and Ethan to move back home"

Stuff like that hurts, I just wish she'd keep it to herself but I know its hard for her. It's hard for me too. She may retire in New Mexico though so that'll be good. She's talking about it more and more each day. I hope she does. I know she'll be further but at least we'll be in the same country.

My mom does that all the time too. The house across the street is for sale, and she keeps telling me we should just move in there. It hard to break her heart but it hurts me too when she says it like I dont want to be here. She makes comments about me just up and leaving and stuff which stab my heart too. I know she doesn't realize what shes doing, but it sucks.

*steals some pie*

She thinks it was easy for me to leave, but it wasn't. So she feels it should be easy for me to come back, but it isn't.

*gives you some whipped cream for your pie*

Its good pie huh? :D I loves it.
