Where in the world are you staying, Trailmix? That's just plain ridiculous. I wouldn't stay there just on principle now! lol

lol

La Quinta and I wouldn't either but I know their beds are comfortable and they allow pets

We actually rent out a La Quinta by the university here for students because we've run out of residence halls to put them in. Supposedly it's okay.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Ahhh, La Quinta. I had such a bad experience with them that they gave me a free night. I never used it.

For me it's all about the beds, like you, if I don't get my sleep i'm a grouchy camper - so I have pretty much narrowed it down to La Quinta and Hampton Inns - the other thing I like about La Quinta is that, for the newer places, the rooms are all the same and have a little foyer area when you come in the door of the room, which I really like for putting all our stuff in.

Oh and La Quinta has a check in time of 1:00, which I also like.

Yeah, beds are important. I get really grouchy when I have to sleep on a board.

I don't know if I told this story, but when we were travelling to Florida we were in some small town so we pulled in to this area that had a Hampton Inn and I think a Comfort Inn.

Well the Hampton Inn was just being built, wasn't even open yet, so we went to the non-comfort Inn. The bed was like sleeping on the floor. I could not sleep so Mike went down to the car and got our airbed and brought that up and it has a pump which is really loud, so blew it up and we slept fitfully on that for the night, if I remember correctly. It was kind of late at night and I was tired

Last night I made a hotel reservation for a night, for after we have moved our stuff out of the house. I did it online at the hotel website, all good.

Well after discussing it for a few minutes we decided that it would be a good idea to spend the night before at the hotel as well, since all our stuff should be packed at that point and check in time isn't until 1:00 the next day and the movers will be here etc.

So I call the hotel directly. She was soooo rude, first she picks up the phone and is talking to someone else, then after a while she says HELLO - name of hotel. I explain I would like to change our reservation.

'I can't do that for you, you will have to contact your travel agent'

Me: 'We don't have a 'travel agent' - I reserved the room online'.

'I don't mean an actual travel agent that you hired, I mean whoever you reserved with, I can't change it here'.

'I reserved it through your (hotel's) website directly'.

'Yes, but you will have to call your travel agent (or something else silly) - if I change it for you here they will have already charged your credit card and there is nothing I can do about that'

What?? So I say I will just call the 800 number for the hotel. But honestly - did she even think about anything she said before she spoke, what she said made zero sense!

Anyway, I called the main number and sorted it out - sort of - I have two nights confirmation by email, but each night is in a different email, so have to call them back today to make sure they have it right.

Funny thing is, I had spoken to her a couple of hours earlier (about early check in) and she was really nice.

jeez, women, who can figure them out??? lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Ew I went to my usual Tuesday workout class and another class had just finished. I walked in the room and it was literally like a sauna there was steam in the air and you couldn't breathe, there were droplets of sweat in the air too. I gagged and ran out so fast, it was the most disgusting thing ever. The class is 1 hour and I would have fainted or been sick from the air-sweat

That's sweet that you go to an exercise class.

I wish I could :(

You should complain! Sounds like they need more fans or ventilation or something!

Not sure if this qualifies as a vent, but I am so unmotivated to finish my resume... I know I should... but I just don't wanna!

If you're looking for a comfy hotel bed then you need to stay at a Hilton! I love the Hilton super sleepers... :luv: When it comes to hotel rooms I think its always worth the extra money to get something nice. Its my personal policy.

My back is killing me today and I have no idea why! Its been bothering me off and on for about a month... it almost feels like something is pinching in my lower back. Unfortunately I just have to deal with it!
