So my husband decided to make fresh brewed iced tea tonight and he forgot about the pot on the stove... he was on the computer and I guess he was just having SO much fun organizing his photos on iphoto 09' that he completely forgot about the pot on the stove. Basically a hole burned through the pot and liquid metal was everywhere including all over our floor so now our floor looks disgusting!!!

I am SO mad. Not only does our floor look like absolute #######, we're going to have to pay for that.

Seriously. I just want him to stay out of the flipping kitchen.

** ** **!!! :crying:

Oh I have a visual aid!

Now the floor doesn't look that bad in the photo, but it is! Basically the metal burnt through the tile and it just looks nasty! My husband's hand is covering most of it, yes that's him giving me the finger. He's such a sweetie! He's trying to scrap past the burnt look so I'll just have a scratched tile. They are peel and stick tiles so I am thinking we can try to take a photo of the tile and go to home depot and buy some more. I am hoping!

And our pot..

It's so funny... earlier tonight I was telling him how I wanted a nice new set of pots and he was going on about how these were great quality and how he's had them for YEARS.

Yea I think its time I get a new set now. :P

Wow! That's too bad Sprailenes! I appreciate the pics

One time the outer glass portion of my oven broke (for no particular reason) - it was hot and burnt the lino as well - so I hear you.

Get an electric kettle to go with the new pots too . . . one that shuts itself off when it's boiled.

Oh but thats the funny part.

We have an electric kettle.

We have one of those awesome ones where water boils really quickly.

He prefers to do everything in this "rustic" way.

If he had a fire pit he would have made the tea on that!!!

Help.

Were you able to get the burnt look out or did you have to buy new lino?

You will definitely get your new pots now!

Your current pot looks like the side of the terminators face when he gets burned out of the machine thingy.

I bought a fiesta ware set a month ago on ebay. It was a mishmash of items, but they were all the cobalt colored plates and cups that I needed. So the girl who was shipping it sends a shipping notice via USPS on the 23rd of June. Sends it priority mail. Okay fine. I paid for UPS. But its Hawaii, so 2-5 days for delivery isn't so bad for $20 of shipping.

I never received the item. The tracking from USPS still says, they have been notified that an item may be shipped. Not that its been dropped off. Or that its in Tuktoyaktuk for processing while it tours the globe on its way to Paauhau, HI. I've sent her a few emails. Only one response and that is that she shipped it on June 23rd. Essentially, f-off.

I just noticed that on my paypal receipt says that it was shipped in medium flat rate box. I know that there is no way in hell, 5 cups, 5 saucers, 4 salad plates and 5 bowls can fit in a medium sized flat rate shipping box. Unless she smashed them to bits first. Personally, I think she just didn't ship it because her profit margin was going to be so low after shipping it to Hawaii and doesn't want to give me a refund. She should have just told me that in the first place.

I want my plates. wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :crying:

I'm sorry to hear of your awful experience! I did want to say however, that we've been shipping some items from home, and USPS has some new "flat rate" shipping boxes. The boxes are fairly big actually, bigger than they normally are, and are one price, whatever can fit in the box, for up to 70lbs, for one price. So, it IS possible that they were shipped in a medium box. Let us know how you make out!

I agree with Carla. I picked up one of those flat rate shipping boxes to send Trailmix her coffee and it was a pretty good size. Here is the medium flat rate box:

Nev, that pot is a mess! Did it not mess up your stove?

Yea he had to take the element out and everything and there is still burnt metal on the element.

He's been banned from the kitchen. I am on DVD rental ban for renting too many bad movies, well this is the same thing.

I'm just getting really frustrated.

Call 2 different Canada border places, the info place (where the woman was very nice and well informed) who says we can just say our vehicle is 'to follow' for importing and import it when we get to Calgary and the guy at the border (also very nice) who says no, you need to import it at the border.

The snippy U.S. border person who didn't like me asking how we access U.S. customs on our way in to Canada (I prefaced it by saying it was a dumb question!)

And this is just great - you cannot import your own bed back in to Canada unless you have a certificate saying it has been cleaned and fumigated.

I have definitely had that experience, they are definitely not the most friendly people to call! The runaround I had to do to get my car exported back to Canada... I have never heard of beds not being able to be imported... :o
