That sucks about the haircut, who does the Rachel cut anymore!? Sheesh. I usually go to Supercuts for a trim but if I'm getting it styled I'll go to a real salon.

Ohmygod Nev .... the Rachel cut! So sorry for you :)

When I visited my mom in Florida a couple years ago, she brought me to her "amazing" hairdresser. I asked for choppy short layers. And I walked out with a freaking 80's MULLET!!! She styled my hair like Bon Jovi in his heyday!!! I have never cried so much. In retrospect, I was the youngest person there .... by a good 30 years or so. I should have known she would not be up on modern hairstyles.

My vent: I finally succumbed to Declan's virus. Blah. I hate being sick on the weekend especially, because it is the only time I have to spend with hubby and son. I think I am going to push through it and go to the fair anyway. I am just pissed off though :(

One of my best friends just called crying again, andI hate how I can only tell my friend so much and not get thru to her. My friend and her daughter live in NB in an appartment above her parents. Now her parents have pretty much controled her entire life, they ruined her marriage to a great guy (they didn't like him), and till this day they pretty much still control her. They wanted to move from Sault Ste Marie to NB (her parents). They convinced her to move with her daughter.

She also gave up custody of her son at 2yrs cause her parents convinced her she could'nt handle him. He's with his dad. She hasn't seen him i think in like 6 yrs.

Her mother is an drunk and her dad well he should be in jail, I wont get into that.

I've been telling her for years to grow up and take charge of her own life. . Her daughter and her are both on attidepresents and getting worse. She is slow and has been treated like a retard by her parents for ever. They run her life she is not that dum, she can do things on her own, she wants to get away and move back to the Sault where she has friends and is able to do things on her own.

Her parents moved to and area that she is totaly dependant on them. She doesn't drive and has lots of health issues. It drives me nuts I can't help her, Ive told her to pack up and get on a bus and just go, but she doesnt want to leave all her stuff or pets. She has a friend she can stay with till she gets disability transfered for an appartment, but she can't get any help from disability in NB. They don't have any type of moving allowence from what she has been told.

So anyways I figured I would vent in here and also see if anyone has any ideals how she can get moved with little money any type of help I can find her would help. I was thinking a womens shelter if things got worse, but I don't know if they would help her move that far. I know she probably would never move but I have to keep trying to give her options and just maybe when her lease is up this time she will go. All I can do is be there when she is ready to go and hope it will be soon.

Danielle

Hi Danielle,

I used to work in a Women's Shelter in New Brunswick and I would highly recommend you telling your friend to call and talk to someone. I know that each shelter does have it's own set of criteria to allow admittance, but they would be able to tell her. It sounds like it is emotional abuse from her parents and I know that that would have satisified criteria at the shelter that I worked at. We would aid women in relocating and setting them up with basic items such as dishes, clothes, bedding and toiletries. If nothing else, the workers would be able to give her other ideas, she would have someone to talk her problems through and she could go to the house for a visit and speak to the workers in person. Some of the houses also have outreach programs, so she may be able to have someone come to her and talk to her, maybe make a plan of action.

I hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions :)

Thanks thats what I was looking for, I will let her know.

Danielle

Nev- bad deal about the rach cut. I would have fixed it for you though for sure.

I went to a family dinner sans bridezilla last night. My bro in law was there and I gave him a hug. Every one was trying desperately NOT to talk about the wedding. It's too bad that we are at the point where we couldn't invite his soon to be wife to a family dinner because of the drama involved. It's a shame that it doesn't bother my BIL all that much.

The wedding is a go. My husband is going to the bachelor party today. I'm a hint disapointed, but still more scared for what his life is going to be.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

grr, so I thought the hubby and I had kind of made plans to go to the beach today.. well, he finally fell asleep about an hour ago after staying up all night playing on his computer.. I fell asleep around 2 or 3 am.. so it doesn't look like we will be going to the beach today.. he probably won't be up till 3 or 4pm...

I know it has to do with his weird work schedule but come on you don't need to stay up til 8 am

I bought a fiesta ware set a month ago on ebay. It was a mishmash of items, but they were all the cobalt colored plates and cups that I needed. So the girl who was shipping it sends a shipping notice via USPS on the 23rd of June. Sends it priority mail. Okay fine. I paid for UPS. But its Hawaii, so 2-5 days for delivery isn't so bad for $20 of shipping.

I never received the item. The tracking from USPS still says, they have been notified that an item may be shipped. Not that its been dropped off. Or that its in Tuktoyaktuk for processing while it tours the globe on its way to Paauhau, HI. I've sent her a few emails. Only one response and that is that she shipped it on June 23rd. Essentially, f-off.

I just noticed that on my paypal receipt says that it was shipped in medium flat rate box. I know that there is no way in hell, 5 cups, 5 saucers, 4 salad plates and 5 bowls can fit in a medium sized flat rate shipping box. Unless she smashed them to bits first. Personally, I think she just didn't ship it because her profit margin was going to be so low after shipping it to Hawaii and doesn't want to give me a refund. She should have just told me that in the first place.

I want my plates. wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :crying:

At the very least report her to ebay for failure to deliver. That really sucks, though.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

This happened to me with a pair of shoes two years ago. I thought I bought this AMAZING shoes on Ebay and the seller asked to be paid by money order. So I did and they never came. I emailed the seller a few times and they were anything but nice. They accused me of lying.

Any ways, I got in touch with the right people at Ebay and they ended up telling me the person was a con artist that was being investigated by the police after I had reported them. I guess they had their eye out for this person. Ebay couldnt refund me though cause I had paid by money order :(

I know how it feels though! Good luck!
