Sometimes my boss is so abrasive that she'll walk over and ask me what I'm doing and when she doesn't get what I am saying, she'll walk over and physically pick my monitor up and look at what I am doing. I am not used to these types of people. Also when I am on the phone with the CFO she'll stand there and make ridiculous faces. How old are we???

It's funny how you envision worklife when you're in high school, or even universtiy. It's really just high school all over again, but with a dress code.

Did she give you the time out symbol like my boss gave me last week?

My boss keeps wearing these one pieces cotton dresses that cling to every bit of her fat. Everyone and their mother thinks it's gross.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Yeah I saw that in the news today, spurred on by claims for asylum. It's really too bad that so many legitimate travellers from Mexico will now have to get a visa!

They mentioned:

The Immigration and Refugee Board reviewed 5,654 Mexican claims last year and accepted 606. "In 2009, the number of claims has increased, while the acceptance rate has decreased further still," said the government statement.

oh yes.. renewing CDN passport..

now mind you we just had hubby's US passport renewed and it was a cinch. I paid $20.00 at Sears to get passport photos, and the girl made me take off ALL my jewelery.. including my 3 sets of pierced earrings (2 of which I never remove) saying they would be "sparkly" and they would cause the picture to be rejected..

Then she put this dry powder all over my face and my picture now looks like I'm a freak of nature with white blotches all over my face to keep it from "shining".. I hate passport photos.. honestly.. why do the CDNS have to be so #######?

The picture I currently have looks NOTHING like me.. AT all.. So I'm not sure what their major malfunction is to begin with...:P

maybe she thought u were in for the XXX shoot!! lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

So my boss not only left early yesterday without telling any one, including her boss, but SHE CALLED OUT TODAY! She's making twice as much money as I am, and I'm stuck constantly doing all her work. This is the second busiest time of year for us, behind when the students actually come to campus for the first few weeks. We are setting everything up for them to come.

Ever since she told every one she's retiring Dec. 31st, she's been not doing any work at all, taking long lunch breaks, coming in late and leaving early...####### can I do??

My eyes filled with grit
