It was because the Canadian army went into Afghanistan that US forces were freed up to leave Afghanistan and invade Iraq. Seems they don't know their own American history either.

Did you guys hear about the Fox News report that was bashing Canada's role in Afghanistan among other things? It's disgusting.

Honestly? They are all puttzes who don't even have their facts straight.. not worth the time of day.. Again.. it's Fox.. so I'm not surprised (don't tell hubby I just said that). :)

I agree fox news is full of idiots, but that's no excuse for what they said! It was ignorant and pathetic. It is up to them to do fact checking before a broadcast.

Apparently they are saying that it was all in jest, and sarcasm.. which is the show's stick.. I think they just made themselves look like uneducated hicks.

Right now, I'm an angry wife. The UPS guy just stopped by with yet another aquarium item costing $100. I oculd handle one little surprise expediture but this is not an uncommon occurance. I've been delaying going to the dentist to deal at least one cavity and some faulty seals that need replacing because we are eating up our savings at an unhealthy rate while he's spent several hundred dollars because he wants a fishtank on his desk at work. He's going to want to spend another $100 minimum on flora and fauna for it. :ranting:

I've already been getting steadily more annoyed about how often he eats out for lunch when I'm perfectly happy to get up in the morning and make him something to take with him. I could handle once a week, socializing with coworkers is important. The three to four times a week is irresponsible.

We just got our tax return cheque. I know he's going to view that as "free" money and want to spend it on whatever. He's not going to be pleased with me because I'm going to insist that it go to my dentist appointments and our wedding expenses. We've got the formal wedding in a few months that he insisted we have in one of the most expensive countries I know of - Bermuda.

grrrrrrrrr........

Why do I always feel violated after visiting the dentist???

My former dentist was a really close friend. One day I was joking with him about how dentists always use your chest as an extra tray to lay their tools. (Oh my. :o That just sounds wrong. LOL) Anyway, he was howling because it was so true but he hadn't ever thought of it that way. Not sure if he still does it, though. He went on to specialize then moved away. I miss him a lot. I used to get free dental work.

Catherine.. been thinking all day about how to reply to you.. This sounds really frustrating and hard to deal with.. I hope you & hubby can sit down and chat about priorities right now.. It's a rough time to be spending right now with the future so unsure, so I can totally appreciate and understand your frustration and concern for your family's future. And your dental bills.. oi do I hear you there!

My dentist back on PEI just moved back to PEI after a really successful career in CA.. The office, the procedures everything was cutting edge.. makes me feel like I stepped back into the dark ages here in CT.. :crying: I miss my dentist too!!

Cat! Try your best to put an end to it. I stopped buying my lunch at work months ago and it has saved us money. You need to sit down with him and go over what is unnecessary. A fish tank at work is not a necessary expense, especially if you are trying to save. My husband was mad at me the other week because I bought a DSLR camera out of the blue. He had every right to be. He just said, "no more spending for awhile, okay?" and I said, "sure". I didn't see it as a telling off because he knows I work very hard and I pay half our bills, but he was right. It was a little unnecessary. I don't even know how to use it!

Any way, you've got to try and put an end to it or it will always be hard for you both. I don't think you have kids yet and I know you want to. How can any one have children if they want to buy a fish tank for their office? You know what Im saying here. It's your right to tell him to stop.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I just had a call from our Realtor. I had scanned something and emailed it to her to print. Welllllll she said that she and her 'IT Guy' had been working on it and between the two of them they could not figure out how to make it smaller.

As most people know, when you scan something, it scans it to some weird size, dependant on your settings - but when you print it lo and behold it will resize itself - unless you have some other weird settings going on.

I would venture to say that they were trying to view it on the screen and figure it out that way. The fact that the 'IT Guy' couldn't figure out how to view a .jpg on screen is rather amazing.

Do not call yourself an IT guy/girl if you are not an IT guy/girl!! geez :hehe:

Ohh or better yet, don't call the person in your office - that figured out you didn't have your computer turned on and that is why you couldn't get to your files - the IT guy/girl.

So, we are sound asleep last night and I start hearing this wailing siren sound come from somewhere in the house! I wake up immediately trying to place it - I have never heard anything like this before - and wake Joe up. He can't hear it, but then he is nearly deaf anyway so no surprise. We jump out of bed and race around the house trying to find what is making the noise. The cats are racing around slunk really low to the ground because the sound is really piercing. Then it stops. That is even more worrisome! Anyway, I am going through the house and then start to hear the beep of a fire alarm battery needing to be replaced. The cats cringe with every beep because it is pretty loud. I have never been in the house when one of the alarms first start to 'beep' the new battery sound but we figure that wailing siren was the initial 'notice' from the alarm to replace the battery. It sure does get your attention if you are there to hear it! So, knowing I won't be able to sleep with that noise going on and having pity on the poor cats, I go into the garage, get the ladder (we have 9 ft ceilings), get the replacement battery and at 2 am change the battery in the fire alarm. Of course, I couldn't get back to sleep after that for a long time as my heart was still racing a mile a minute with all that extra adrenalin.

I changed the batteries in the other two alarms this morning. I don't need THAT experience again!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Yuck! I wonder which great design person decided the initial 'wail' would be a good idea <_<

Even though it was annoying, very responsible of you to change the battery ASAP! Many people take it out, don't replace it and if there's a fire, they're goners.
