I know a few people who had kids on purpose.... to try and keep the guy. Now that's what I call pathetic. And very dirty. They just told them they were on BC and the guys believed them. Kind of gullible of the men, but it's a shame that you can't trust the people you think you can trust.

Really? I think the part about her being a social worker and putting herself in this situation is far worse.

There are lots of people in professions that shouldn't be... crooked cops, crappy social workers, etc. Just because you have a "title" doesn't mean you're going to be professional and abide by good values if you're stupid. Purposely sleeping with a criminal to get pregnant (just because you want a child) is absolutely pathetic

Was she worried about what people would think if she went to a sperm bank? That would have been much safer and she wouldn't be having these issues now. I think unprotected one night stands with strangers are more likely to cause people to think she's an idiot.

No, but it implies that she had specific training in that field. I didn't get from the OP that she knew he was a criminal beforehand, only that she went through the one night stand to try to get pregnant. For all we know, she was oblivious to his nefarious past.
