What kind of strange calls?

Well one man with a thick Indian accent called (I think he was honestly calling from India, it sounded so far away) I could barely understand him. He said he found my resume online, and wanted to invite me to meet him at a job fair at so and so address in Philly. Anyway he gave me the address and asked if I was interested, said NO and promptly hung up. It just sounded odd. So I look at the address online (a convetion centre) and there was no such job fair going on!

Then I got another one, didn't recognize the # so didn't answer, he lef a msg saying he works from home and wanted to talk to me about opportunities to work with him making "Thousands of dollars per month" YA OK BUDDY!!

No reputable companies have actually called me from the search function so I figure I'll just stick to applying to jobs I find myself.

I hate that when you put your resume online. You get creepers calling you.

Don't you guys take all the identifying information off though? hmmmmm :hehe:

Yeah, I learned my lesson now! LOL well Tmix, if I do that how will "real" companies get in touch with me?

Well I had posted my resume on Monster, Yahoojobs, etc. and I just took them off. I am getting some REALLY wierd calls from strange men, I kid you not! Obviously my phone number and address is on there, so I don't want to be creeped out anymore.

Well I would leave my email address on there - do these places not have a hidden 'email this person' link at all??

I do now. My email was there though for a while... I no longer have it up.

My resume is no longer public, I just send it to the companies I am personally interested in.

Yeah I just took it down, I was also getting alot more e-mail spam about job stuff, so forget it. I'll just apply to the jobs I want and not get creeped on, LOL!

I got a talking to. :(

I feel like such an a$$hole when non-members call and ask if they can come golf here and I tell them that we're private. Usually I will go online and try to find them a good public course and give them that information. Well aparently I shouldn't be doing this... so what am I supposed to do? Tell them we're members only and then hang up? Some of these people aren't even from around here and are calling to find a place to golf. The guy I talked to yesterday told me I was a huge help and I think that shows a lot about us. No you can't golf here, I'm sorry but let me help you find a place nearby.

It's called GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE... and I think NJ needs more of it!

And I am sorry I am not meaning to offend anyone from here, but ever since I have moved here I just notice that I get in trouble for doing the RIGHT thing more than I do for doing something WRONG and it really makes me angry. It's like what should I do!? Should I just sit like a lump like the rest of them and not care at all??

I guess I better start.

I think it's so nice that you try to help them out finding a course - it is good customer service and says a lot about the company you work for - the fact that they do not appreciate this is ridiculous.

Good for you for being nice!

What the heck? What kind of person would tell you not to be helpful? :bonk:
