Yea well, when I was a kid I had a total of 12 on me, like it wasn't bad at all. I remember my mom taking me to see the little mermaid on one of the days because they weren't bad at all. Then I got them when I was an adult and that was bad. I had an insane fever, chills, they were EVERYWHERE... and I mean EVERYWHERE! In my mouth and everything, which is why I was in the hospital, I had a hard time breathing and couldn't eat.

You and I obviously had the same kind of reaction to adult chicken pox. I got them when I was 30 and nearly died - literally. They were on every inch of me inside and out. I ended up on a ventilator so I could breath and at one point, they induced me into a coma for three days. For almost three weeks they told my family I might not make it. I spent over one month in the hospital and the entire time I was in a quarantined ICU. Awful. I do have to admit though, once I was better enough to go home I could finally laugh about it. I looked like a hideous beast. Every inch of me was plastered in those suckers... and yes I do mean EVERY inch. The one perk - I didn't have a period for 7 months afterwards. They were as thick through the inside of me as they were on the outside and it took the inside a lot longer to heal - that includes my entire digestive tract too. Oh yeah! That was another perk - the weight loss.

Indiana requires our children to have the chickenpox vaccine before they go to school, but I've always wondered about that. I'm not one of those people afraid of vaccines, so don't worry, that's not where I'm going. What I've wondered is do they ever wear off? Are they good for 20 or 30 years or are they good forever? I only wonder because I hope we're not breeding a generation of people who will get chickenpox in their 30s. And to think, I could have been vaccinated the same time as my son and chose not to. Dummy, dummy, dummy.

Wow- that is incredible! So glad you are ok.

I got mine in grade 8- which I thought was quite late to get them. It was grade 8 picture day- they started in my scalp. Luckily I didn't have any on my face for the picture though. I did get them in my throat and had to get some type of syrup to numb my throat to help me eat. That was the worst of it. I lived in the bathtub with baking soda. I don't remember them being itchy or painful at all.

My Mom was one of the ones who had 'chicken pox' parties. When our neighbour across the road came down with them, Mom sent my brother and I over to play with her - and so did the other parents on the street. We all came down with them. The same thing happened with the mumps and measles as well - the parents of the healthy kids sent them over to play with the first sick kid who had 'em. We all had them then. Childhood illnesses should be had as kids - they are dangerous as adults!

Catherine - I had a suspicious mammogram too - went back and did two additional mammograms and then went for ultrasound. Turned out that there was a small, benign calcification present - nothing serious. The odds really are in your favour that there is nothing to worry about and further tests will be able to reassure you all is fine. Good luck.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

As you can see it's been one of those days, you know the kind where you look in your bank account and realize you may not have enough money to make it through the month.

Lord help me....

I'm feeling just a tiny bit stressed at the moment...*crawls under the covers and wishes Hubby would finally graduate from University*

OMG, Cat. That's horrible! :o So glad you made it through. :)

I'm pretty sure the chickenpox vaccine doesn't wear off, otherwise they would have reimmunized us when we had our medicals. Oh wait. I had to get reimmunized for a couple of things. One was the tetanus and the other was one of the childhood vaccines..... I think it was the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella). My doctor told me it was the one which stings and that he knew that because all the babies cry when they get it. When he stuck the needle in, my mouth dropped open like this :o ...... yeah, it stung alright. I told him I see why all the babies cry.

Anyway, I do know that chicken pox can lay dormant then reappear in later life, so I don't think you can immunize against that. Once it's in, it's in.

We have already been approved for a mortgage - by RBC, but I decided I should check out some other mortgage offers - because hey - why not.

So I call Countrywide yesterday, spoke with a nice guy, he said he would get more information regarding my questions and call me back tomorrow or today. Well I didn't hear from him, so I call him back. Apparently bank rates went down today, so they are busy. Because of this he has been told not to do any further research and so hmmm he can't say when he will get back to me.

So I call back and speak to someone else, within 3 minutes he answered my questions.

How does a company like that stay in business?

Oh and I called the manager to pass on my observations - got his voice mail - because of the high call volume he can't return any calls for at least 48 hours

Wasn't Countrywide in the news for something lately? I'll see if I can find it. Something to do with bad loans.

Well I know they merged with B of A? The first guy I talked to was so clueless, we were discussing deposits etc and he said oh yeah if you make a deposit and don't get the financing you lose your deposit.

Oh and I just got off the phone with RBC mortgage person....A. She is a flag waving republican (and I had to hear her political views on Obama and George) - B. She doesn't know much about mortgages - I am Canadian...I know more details than she does...what's up with that?

I just miss her so much (F)(L)

My fiancee came to Canada to visit me for 2 weeks. After 2 beautiful weeks and so much happiness being together again, today was the day she had to leave to go back home in USA. I drove her back to the airport, we checked in, then we kissed and hugged for about 15 minutes trying to comfort each other and trying not to cry, said goodbye and I came back home, I can still smell her perfume in my apartment, I miss her so much already, god it hurts being apart from my baby :crying:, god I love her so much :)(F)(L)

Awwww I feel your pain, I really do.... Whenever I left my sweetie to go home, or he left me, it was like part of my heart was leaving.... I would cry because I missed him so much.... he used to leave me his undershirt that smelled like his cologne and I'd sleep with it until the next visit. Hang in there, because once you're together this pain makes it ALL worth it!
