Yeah, obviously she hasn't considered (or doesn't care) that when people are moving it's stressful for them and perhaps she could be a little nice.

So this place, are you going to take it - do you like it at all?

i like that it's a town home.. and that we won't have people living above us.. I like that the basement is finished so it will give us additional space (and a place for our junk)..it has a garage, so that will be good, and it's on a hiking trail (which is around a lake).

I don't like that it's not been updated in forever, and that it's an hours walk from work (I like my 20 min walk into work every morning) *sigh.. but it's all we can afford and we really need to find a place to live by the end of next month. It's nothing like the place we saw a while back (historic home, wood floors, beautiful spot) This is your run o the mill late 70's constructed town home.. so just kinda blah.. It doesn't have much soul.. but we could be happy there I think..

Do you really want to rent from someone like that though? I sure wouldn't. :(

yeah.. i know.. i actually broke down on hubby on Sat. saying.. I don't like her walk away.. but he's like.. we're desperate, and can't find anything in our price range, and this place is available.. if it works out we probably won't have much reason to deal with this lady.

We're going to comb the lease over tomorrow (we figure she'd try to sneak something in that is either illegal or not advantageous to us).. and if we find something amiss, we're not going to sign it pure and simple.

I would just worry that since she's being so unreasonable before you even sign the lease, can you imagine how she'll be once she "hooks you in". If you need anything done, etc. She may be a very difficult landlord.

I actually wish my landlord took out the $$ each month on the 15th directly. At my old apt they did direct withdrawal, and it made it easier for me. I didn't have to remember to mail it, and I saved on stamps! But I understand why you wouldn't want to do it.

Yeah good thinking. I was just thinking like your Husband said - you probably won't have much reason to deal with her after you move in, thankfully. While it hasn't been updated in a while - once you get all your stuff in there it will feel like home. The fact that no one will be living upstairs is a huge bonus, you will actually be able to get some sleep!

I wasn't crazy about the woman who owns this house, when we met her and rented it. She seemed very much like a busybody - however, I rarely hear from her now, in fact she has only called like twice and both times to ask a question or whatever.

well we had a long conversation about it.. and we've looked at probably 12 places over the past 3 months and there have only been 2 that have really satisfied our list of "needs".. this one being one.. the other one being the one we lost out on to "grad students".. unfortunately this is a town of very wealthy grad students who have cash in hand apparently for apartments. Our current apt (we're paying 1100 is going up to 1350 when we leave - the landlord has a signed lease for our place for Aug 1 so we HAVE to move) and the 4 bedroom above us is rented for 2500.00).. we're beggars at this point and you know what they say about beggars..

Gosh Em, that sounds horrible. I forget, which town are you in now/ trying to rent in?

More and more, I really want to move back to CT, but I just need a fricking job! @ Jill - I feel for you. I am there too. I am the USC, my resume is dang good (not to brag), and no one is calling me either for jobs. I am so frustrated. Just remember, you will find a job someday!!!

We're going for Hamden now.. lower tax rates means lower rent rates I guess.. but it's right on Whitney Lakes, so it's a beautiful spot.

Thanks Autumn! It is very frustrating, but I know it will work out eventually and I will find something. It just may take alot more time than I expected. I hope you find something as well.

My vent for today:

My doggie is possibly very sick :( We've been noticing the last few days that around his right eye it's very pink and puffy. I thought it was possibly another cataract (he has one already in his left eye,) or just something caught in his eye.

I took him to the vet yesterday, and after more than three hours of testing, and $311 dollars later, they informed me he either has a skin condition (not too complicated to deal with,) or an Auto-Immune disease!!!! :crying: (<---No, that does not mean AIDS in this case, my husband was freaking out thinking our dog had aids, so I asked the vet and it's more or less some disease that is causing his body to over-produce protein which is resulting in skin irritations, etc.)

The good news is, if it is an Auto-Immune disease, it likely isn't a deadly one since it's attacking his skin and outer parts, rather than his organs.

I just feel awful because he's already had a rough life (we adopted him from a shelter about 2 months ago where he was picked up as a stray.) He's a cockerspaniel, therefore he is extremely high spirited and full of energy, so watching him be weak and depressed is killing me. I do think he's playing it up a bit though...after the vet yesterday he was acting more depressed, almost like he knew it would get him more attention, so I'm been telling my husband that our dog is milking his injury, hehe.

I'm hoping and praying that when we go back to the vet in two weeks for his check-up that they'll inform us it is just a skin condition, not a disease. Regardless of what is wrong, we're going to do whatever it takes to make him better, but I'm just hoping it's something not serious for his sake...he's too cute to be in pain :(
