He has a gf at school but all he does is buy her snacks at lunch. Yes I was going through 40.00 a week with him for a while and had to put a stop to that. I mean thats the extent of it though. It's kids stuff.

There's a girl in our neighborhood who is quite developed for her age, and I feel so bad for her because she just wants to play sports with the boys and she'll sometimes grab a hockey stick and start to play and my son, being the supplier of the sports equipment in the neighborhood, will usually take it back and tell her to go away. So he's not into girls like that yet and I'd like to keep it that way. I know that kids get into things early but I would rather not encourage it is all.

I mean asking him to come to school so he can meet these girls also kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I want to let him grow up not rush it.

One of the scariest things about your MIL is the fact that she's a teacher. Having her set loose amongst such undeveloped and vulnerable children scares the ####### out of me sometimes!

Unfortunately, as we have seen, educators can make some pretty poor decisions. A New Jersey teacher was just found guilty of having a relationship with a 17 year old boy while teaching at a highschool. Any one is capable of poor judgment, we just hope it's not the kids who teach our children. (but humans are humans, I suppose..)

Ethan is doing just fine without your MIL pimpin him out.

A few months ago I was in Verizon getting a new phone when I saw this kid and his mother, who couldn't have been more than 9 or 10. He was telling her what phone she should buy him, how many minutes he needs, what kind of texting plan he needs...he needs to download music, etc.

I was shocked and disgusted.

What have we all come to, you know?

So I am not crazy! Because my husband said she was just kidding and told me not to overreact.

Kidding or not I just didn't find it appropriate and she was taking the joke too far by showing him pictures of these girls, telling him that they thought he was "hot" and asking him to come to school with her. All of this during my birthday dinner by the way, yea thanks happy birthday to me - lets pimp off your son!

I am a bit of a prude believe it or not and I do have discussions with my son about how to treat a woman and the nice words used to describe someone ie: pretty, beautiful - not hot. I think hot is such an immature and unclassy word. I am trying to bring up a good man here. It isn't easy with the way society is but I am determined.

Yea if any teacher ever laid her hands on my son... I'll... yea nm. I wouldn't be too happy thats all.

Also, if I found out my son's teacher was taking pictures of my son with her cell phone to show her grandchild and tell her things like that I wouldn't be happy.

I also told her: "Grade 5 girls calling someone hot? You know that could be a sign of something going on at home..."

I am totally aware that grade 5 girls talk like this but I felt like being a b1tch.

Regardless of whether my son is 17 or 18... a line is crossed and you just don't go there. They are teachers that you trust to protect your children and teach your children.

Yeah there was a teacher in the Philly area recently arrested for having sex with a 16 year old student, how disgusting. She is married with 3 kids, one the same age as her lover. She said they were in love too, what an abuse of power.

I was 17 once...and had a lot of 17 year old guy friends. I don't think any of them fantasized sleeping with my 45 year old married science teacher. These teachers aren't knockouts. They look like soccer moms!

And whether or not they complain about it, you take an oath and sign a code of conduct as a teacher that says you can MOLEST or SEXUALLY ABUSE an underage child. A 17 year old is a kid, by law, whether you want to believe it or not.

When I was in high school, the first 3 years, all the female teachers were..... not what you would call classic beauties. Then, my senior year, we got 3 student teachers, and 4 brand new teachers. Every senior guy made every attempt to talk to them. Now that I look back on it, it was quite sad.

Yes, you do take an oath when you sign up to be a teacher, and yes it is a felony in most cases to betray that oath. But with the frequency that these cases keep popping up, I'm not shocked any more by any of it. The first one, I think it was Mary Kay Letourneau, that case shocked me. The thing I don't understand is, the cases that pop into my mind, the women are fairly attractive, so I can see why the boys did it, but why would a 30 something woman want to have sex with a kid? A kid who has no idea what he's doing. No, i'm not speaking as a scorned 30 something either

Well I think there is obviously something wrong up there with these women, as a normal person knows it's wrong, and gross, to be sleeping with a kid. Perhaps they seek the attention they are lacking from elsewhere, I dunno. Or perhaps it excites them to be their "first", either way it's sick. Plus you're gonna get caught, I don't know why all these people assume they won't get caught. The 17 year old is going to brag to his friends he scored with the teacher!
