Honestly, all this stuff, it makes me angry and I just feel like going home.

I hear you too Tmixy. It just so frustrating. And HI is the same position with its health care. On top of a 14% pay cut (essentially what 3 days/month is) they're cutting back the employer contributions to health insurance. I didn't take coverage through work, since we're on Chris'. But for some people its looking like another $3000 year that they will be paying out of pocket for health insurance.

You know, this just occurred to me (yeah I know).

So Manager goes in last week and VPs or whomever say - hey, big health insurance increase letter will go out next week. He realizes (and he's a good guy, don't get me wrong) that at the very least my Husband will walk out - not sure about the other guy because he has gigantic debts.

So they agree to give them back the 8%. Honestly, if they hadn't - he would have walked out.

I really wish my fiance knew something about his medical coverage... His parents own a business and he works for them, so he's always had health insurance given to him by his parents and he's never had to pay for it. I asked him what we'd have to pay when we get married and he adds me and he has no idea... I asked him about what kind of coverage he has and he has no idea... I asked him If he had any coverage for eye care so I can get some new glasses instead of wearing my contacts all the time and he has no idea... Like common darling, a little information would ease my mind just a bit! I hear about the costs of health insurance for some people and it has me slightly concerned, I won't lie.

Men  Mine was the same, he knew diddly about his plan as fortunately, had not needed to use it beyond the basic dental, etc. So he brought the book home for me and I did all the research :)

 no kidding eh? I'll probably end up doing the same. I love him but sometimes you need to light a fire under his butt to get him to do anything! If it looks like work he decides if its really worth the effort and usually its no.

:D I wear the health care pants in my family :D

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

MIL RANT

So my MIL is trying to get my son to go to school with her, as she is a teacher, and some girls in her class find him "hot" as she put it, and they want to meet him. She even went to take their pictures and show my son. I just think this is a little inappropriate and joking or not, I don't push girls on to my son and I don't think 10 year olds need to be hearing from anyone that they're "hot".

Anyways she actually asked my son if he wanted to come to school with her on the last day to surprise and meet these girls she teaches. I don't know should teachers really be pimps??

I don't think thats exactly ethical.

Anyways I told her kindly not to talk that way around him right now and she accused me sheltering him. So what if I am? Do you see what kinds of things little kids get into these days? I happen to love the fact that my 10 year old son still acts like a child and isn't worried about whether or not girls find him "hot". It's not something he needs to hear right now imo and since I'm the mom, thats just the way its gotta be.

/end rant

He's 10, but it's not too uncommon for a kid to start experimenting with sex at 12.

The whole thing kind of reminds me of my grandmother. She lived near Lake Tahoe, CA, in a medium sized town. When I was 12, she started handing out pictures of me to all the girls that she thought were in my age group, which was any girl under 18 . I was always mortified by it, and my family had great fun teasing me about it. But I do admit that I liked the attention.

Yes, maybe kids start experimenting early, but it's not because their family members are pushing them into it. Usually, it's either curiosity or problems at home or insecurities, etc.

I think it's a shame she's suggesting this. You aren't sheltering your ten year old by allowing him to be a child. He will find girls and his sexuality out on his own without MIL pushing him into it. Kids who get caught up in sexual activity too young usually have a lot more problems by 9th grade than those who don't.

I didn't mean to suggest that I'm in favor of what your MIL is doing. Yes, 10 is too early. Does your son even notice girls at this point? My mangled attempted point was that things happen earlier than they used to, and that is right around the corner. How, why, or the consequences of it happening too early are beyond the scope of my knowledge and I won't comment.

On a personal note, I don't think girls were able to get rid of the cooties until age 13 if I recall correctly.
