If she's going by plane she'll have to fill out an I-94. But I think that's as far as she'll get. Especially if she's flying out of YYZ. They're not well known for their friendly demeanor.

I dont' think she will though. I've never filled out the I-94 by plane either. Just the customs card.

I'm confused. I thought the customs card WAS the I-94.

Nope, the I-94 is a separate form that is filled out, it's white. Only people who are part of the VWP fill one out when they cross the US/Canada border and the pay the $6 or whatever it is. Canadiands do get one when we activate our K1.

The blue card is just the customs declaration form. Everyone fills that out when we fly.

Okay, I think I know where I'm getting confused. I didn't fill out the blue customs card..... that's for the non-Canadians. Canadians fill out the white card.... which is the I-94 and customs card. You have to do this when you're travelling on an AP. They do it for you at the land crossings, but at the airport you do it yourself. If you do it at the land crossing you pay the $6. If you do it at the airport the cost is already covered in the price of your ticket.

I've never had to fill out an I-94 and I've crossed into the US from Canada on my Bermuda passport several times.

I probably should have always used my Canadian passport but I tended to just grab whichever one was on top.

Bermuda is considered a border country and actually doesn't require an i-94. They have the same rules as Canada and Mexico... http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/without/without_1260.html - so there you go! You never needed one :)

Krikit, I think it's weird you've never filled out the blue customs declaration form. I've always had to fill one of those out travelling by plane. Never ever filled out the white card, ever. I've crossed a lot too, lol.

I had to pay $6 when I activated my K-1, but not when I used my AP and they gave me a new I-94. Hmmm, I wonder if they'll remove the I-94 on my way home? Will it stay in there forever? As I only show them my GC, not passport apparently.

Nope.... just the white one. The blue one is for non north americans. Why did you fill out the blue?!!

I've always filled out a customs form when flying tothe US but never while driving to the US.

When you're crossing by land you don't (usually) get an I-94. Only when you use your visa or AP.

I had to pay $6 when I activated my K-1, but not when I used my AP and they gave me a new I-94. Hmmm, I wonder if they'll remove the I-94 on my way home? Will it stay in there forever? As I only show them my GC, not passport apparently.

I had to pay both times. But I'm used to being ripped off.

Someone will eventually remove the I-94. For me it was the check-in person for Virgin Atlantic when I was flying to England. However, the time before that..... WestJet to Toronto.... they just ignored it, even when I asked them weren't they supposed to remove it. They said someone would do it on the other end. They lied to me.

I can't believe they charge us $6 for a measly piece of cardboard to be stapled into your passport. Crooks!

Yeah I fill that one out ALL the time.

I'm not having a good day at work at all. I feel like punching someone in the eye

Me too, misty. I cried for like 2 minutes in the back office today. That's how frustrated I was. don't tell any one though cause no one saw :(

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

I'm sorry you got upset at work, Amanda. (F) At least you got to break it up with a couple of chuckles on VJ. LOL
