I just watched my boss leave the meeting crying. I'm meeting at 3:00. I guess she's super upset and I don't think her drugs are covered at all.

She left the building. :( ####### I hope she comes back. :(

poor thing that's not what she needed at all :(

It sucks, but today is a new day.

They explained everything to us, yea it sucks but what are you going to do?

I found out it wasn't about her meds. Apparently when she was hired a while back salaried employees who were on the plan by themselves didn't have to pay anything. Now they are going to make her pay, just as I pay just as everyone else pays who didn't get hired 5 years ago.

I understand though, she now has two months of medications and doctors visits before she has to fork out 1000.00 plus pay out of her pay cheque. She's a little upset. She has every right to be.

I just hope she comes back today. I think she will. They're all talking about finding new jobs though. People always say that... it never happens. We'll be fine.

Well that's good - in a horrible way.

People do always say that - I actually worked in an office once where it actually did happen - barring 1 dweeb, everyone in our department did go out and find a new job. Technical support department for Cantax - once they sold out to CCH it was a horrible place to work.

My boss just said she's not ready to make a commitment to retire. (She was supposed to retire this year) Everyone in our entire department (and it's a big one) is just waiting for her to go. She is screwing every one over by not doing her job properly at this point and said she couldn't retire because of the economy. (her husband has been retired for 2 years already. he worked for the feds and shes currently making 90K with 35+ years of government experience)

This is the one thing I HATE about working for the government. You have to REALLY screw up in order to get sent packing. People can keep doing their job poorly and hang on for dear life while bringing every one down with them.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Yea besides the whole health care bit it isn't bad here. The only bad thing is I think that people stir up more drama than needed at times, but for the most part its a good place.

I find if you just stay clear of drama things are just better, I hear them sometimes talk about others and I don't get it. I just prefer not to get caught up in it all.

I used to allow myself to get caught up in work drama and it just makes for an unpleasant experience. You tend to take work drama home too and dwell on it. I think many people here dwell on silly things and end up forgetting about the big picture.

I agree, work drama sucks.

Why do so many people call me Loretta??? Like every other day someone will walk in and call me Loretta. Loretta? And the funniest part of it is... I have just started answering to it because correcting them is just a hassle.

And the person previous to me was not named Loretta so its not that.

The drama and cattiness at my old job was so much, I ate lunch at my desk every day. I refused to sit in the lunch room, around catty women gossiping about others in the office. I just wouldn't participate, I found it really pathetic. So I would get my lunch, and eat/read at my desk instead!

It appears so. Supposedly she has a heart condition, a bad back, something thats wrong with her throat which causes her to burp and make weird noises, etc. So yeah, probably. haha

I'm volunteering at two places, but I need paid work. So I went to an employment specialist. The lady interviewing me handed out the same information I'd already found online. I guess a lot of people don't bother to do their own research.

Anyway... this same lady called me up yesterday and wanted to know if I was "getting paid for my volunteer work."

As far as I know, volunteer work is always unpaid. If it weren't, it wouldn't be considering volunteering. I'd be employed full-time, part-time or contractually.
