The Vent - Part 2

I think I have vented about this before... but I am living in the USA now right? My name is a state: Nevada.

Yet I have never encountered so many people who look at me weird and ask me how to spell it. I always ask them if they have a map and they go: "Ohh like the state!"

I just want to look at them and say: "No like the planet."

Dum dee dum.

It really bums me out when people give what they think is right information

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Ditto, I know the post you're referring to... and by the way, I don't know your dog, but I think I'm in love with him  . (I had a basset hound, and he was the cutest thing ever.)

Well, it's not your run of the mill name. This is the U.S., and you never know how people are going to spell their names. I had a university course with a guy whose name was pronounced the same as mine..... however, his parents butchered the spelling. Rhobhert is NOT the same as Robert. kkthxbai

bah!! I help someone who stops by the office now and again. they don't speak english very well and I've tried 100 ways to tell them the fax number they are trying to use is either not correct or the machine on the other end is not working.

:bonk: So another staffer comes in the office and this person takes the fax sheet and number to them because they think I just don't know how to use the fax machine..

Well I just find it funny that in Canada people got it... but down here most people don't.

People also don't pronounce it right half of the time either, something else I find to quite funny.

Oh well thats the cost of having an awesome name I guess. :P

my vent of the day. - BAD HAIR DAY

i went to get a hair cut yesterday. i get really nervous with new hairdressers. im always loyal to my stylists that save my hair. i always have the victoria beckham short bob. so i asked the lady if someone in the salon can do that style. they say yes. i sit down, i tell her "see the texture i have in all sides of my hair?? i want exactly the same style but shorter". so she cuts my hair shorter. but does not flat iron it to get the full texture style. she wets my hair with her spray while she's cutting it and when she is done w/ my cut, she takes the robe off and said im done. i have wet hair!!! its a $25 for a wet hair! i was so irritated, i just wanted to leave and not have it fixed the way i wanted it. i figured she will just butcher my hair. i have never walked out of a salon w/ unstyled hair and pay that much. yeah i didnt tip her. i should have picked the lady with the purple hair. at least she has personality and cares about her hair.

Did you go to a Supercuts or one of those chain places? Because I know usually at those places, it's cheaper and they just cut, no blow dry (unless you ask, but they don't normally) it's strictly hair cutting there, not really hair styling.

A lot of places charge for a blowout now. If you don't pay up, they send you out the door with wet hair.

I avoid most hair cut places at all cost. I used to pay A LOT Of money to get my hair cut at a nice salon in Ottawa but the one I like here in NJ is too far from me now and it is also very expensive.

I usually cut my own hair, actually, or else I will have my mum do a little bit and I will do the rest. I'm crafty like that.

And Misty- My dog is a REAL trip. If you like basset hounds, you would love this one. She is skinny for a basset hound because we don't overfeed her. We want to make sure she keeps healthy. If she is mad at you, she won't look at you. She's the most stubborn living thing on this planet.

Worddddd. I used to go to one near my mum and dads place in Kitchener and it was cheap and I loved giving my money to those young girls just starting out.

I hope everything goes well with your fix today, border driver! I'm sure it will look lovely!
