ok, so another question. Do you have to go to specific doctors or can you just take forms in and see your own doctor?

Specific doctors and there's not a lot of them.

i didn't have to (turns out I got it just before the appointment though so had the details) but when you call and book, ask them if you need to have the case number (will start with SYD2010...........). All you can do is ask. The police check I definitely recommend doing around the 2 months of waiting mark just in case it takes a while.

Thank you Vanessa. I'm really hoping to get NOA2 within the next 4 weeks so might wait a little longer before booking the medical. The police check I only ordered last week and got yesterday so that should be right for a while

Im confused about the I-864...Im the petitioner for my Aussie/Kiwi wife, Im a US citizen and Im currently working in Australia. Ive seen several different things about how many previous tax returns I would need, 1, 2, 3? Do I only need to have filed the past 3 returns but only show a copy of the last return I did?

Also, What exactly do they want a copy of? The 1040 that I filled out? Plus Im excluded from owing any taxes anyway because I earned less than 91 thousand dollars per year here in Australia. Can we just show the consulate a copy of the 1040 and the 2555ez. I just filed this years taxes because I just got my end of year wages statement so I wont be able to get a transcript before the interview.

Another confusing part...I have been working in Australia the past 4 years but when my wife and I move to the states we'll both be temporarily unemployed until we find work. So I'm not getting why they need proof of my previous income here in Australia the past 1, 2, or 3 years to satisfy proof of support for the I-864. I obviously will be quitting my job in Australia before we move to America, so how is my past Australian income any proof I can support my wife in America when we move there? This is why we went ahead and got a joint sponsor in America. But do we even need a joint sponsor? Will my previous income here in Oz actually satisfy proof of support for the I-864? So confusing.

Im assuming that most Americans that live in Australia and are petitioning for their Australian spouse will be quitting their Australian jobs and arriving in America unemployed so its confusing how previous Australian income could possibly qualify as proof of future support in America.

Also, On the I-864 where it mentions household, is that referring to our household here in Australia?

Deb, got a question for you...

I'm going through my interview letter, and it says:

Visa Interview Requirements - you must bring the following to the visa interview:

* The correct size and number of photographs

I'm a bit confused, because I already submitted US Sized Passport photos to the NVC, and I can't see ANYWHERE how many photos I'm required to bring to the US Consulate...

Also, in the Document Name and Status list, it has a P next to the section "Australia Police Cert Available to Applicant"... the P is supposed to mean:

"The police cert must be requested by the applicant. If you have already applied for this document, no further action is required. The issuing police authority will send the police record directly to the appropriate US Embassy to have on hand at the time of the interview"...

I know you said NVC would just send it with the file, but I'm concerned that it still says I have to apply for it and they (the police) will send it directly to the consulate...

Maybe I'll email the consulate and tell them that the cert was sent to NVC and whether they actually require me to complete another one... JUST to be on the safe side...

Actually never mind about the Police Certificate, I just noticed the very last line is "Australia Police Cert NSW/QLD" and it has an O next to it which is The original document has been received and accepted as meeting post requirements.

Which I assume means it's all good

Yea - they will have your PCC. I got the same on my checklist.

I took 2 x US sized passport photos. What a headache. Tip for you, the pics you provide on interview day is the pics that end up on your visa. Make 'em good ones ...
