I don't really know the in's and out's, but I guess you could start with the Australian Immigration Wizard?

Here you go:

I didn't check that you were CR-1 but you can see from the letter that it says "immigrant visa" interview. The envelope is the last one in the list. If you list doesn't mention it though that's not your fault. If you wanted you could always buy one and not address it unless they ask for it, and then you could give it to family/friends to use if they want to send you stuff.

Hope it helps. Oh, also, bear in mind my interview was a while ago now :P

Thanks, Vanessa!! Lord, my list looks nothing like that. My list mentions photos but not how many and it doesn't even mention bringing a passport and just like Candice ... nothing about taking a ticket. Thanks for that!!

I got my P4 today and it is more stream lined then yours Vanessa.

It just lists the 3 things I needed on one page. Which are PASSPORT, FEES  ($420.20) AND THE 3KG EXPRESS POST ENVELOPE. Doesn't even tell me to take a ticket

Seeing how much the fee was really took the shine off getting P4. I am more pissed then happy. I'll get over it soon enough. I booked my flight for July 8th >people keep asking me if I am excited. I thought I would be more excited then I am. I am more numb then excited. Any body else feel this way or is the winter finally starting to get to me?

candice

Make MUCH more sense that way. I remember when I got that letter I was like "okay.. what am i looking for?" and I thought it was stupid to list stuff I don't need and just have me looking for the X's. I was petrified I'd read it wrong and end up forgetting something.

As for excited or numb. yep. I think it's a self-preservation thing. I was stressed out making sure everything was okay and making sure I had everything. I was worried about the interview itself and that maybe I'd forget something. I think I didn't WANT to be excited because "what if it didn't go okay?". i was just nervous and filled with dread.

Also, the people asking you if you're excited, I think it makes it LESS exciting. Its like you suddenly realise how many people know about it and how many people are going to bug you once you have the interview and again you start to stress about the "what's if's" and how you're gunna tell people if it goes wrong. It's perfectly natural to feel that way, and perfectly okay to reply with "stressed out actually" and maybe they'll stop asking.

NOW, having been through it, I can tell you to not worry about it. Just make sure you take your immigration folder (I'm sure you have one like I do :P), the stuff they ask for (hold onto that payment receipt like your life depends on it) and the relationship evidence. My stuff wasn't even looked at. I just handed over the stuff from the P4 letter then sat down. had my prints taken by someone else. Then sat down. Got called up for interview and even then the questions weren't hard...

But CONGRATULATIONS. I am sure you will be fine and before you know it you'll be outside the interview venue after being told you're approved and sitting down (like me) thinking, "wow.. thats it? After all the stress and worry ... that's it?". Then of course you call your fiance and tell him and you get a little more excited, then you call family and get a little MORE excited, then you sit on the plane/bus/car on the ride home thinking "wow. In a week i'll have my passport, my visa and NOTHING is stopping me from being with my man again" and you can't help but smile like an idiot the whole way home. If you drive from the airport like me you'll probably crank that music and sing your heart out. lol.

I have other news.

When I sent my p3 back I sent a letter with it, requesting that they delay my interview until the 22nd or 29th of June because I was going to be moving to my parents house in Sydney during the time I thought the interview would be set (made sense to do the interview after I got to syd).

When I found out that the fee was going up I wrote them an email asking them... if my interview would have been originaly set for the 1st of June could I please have that date instead.

I DID!! my interview is now set for next week.

I know someone else has their interview nxt week but can't remember who. Was wondering how much they told you the fee woudld be for the 1st. They havn't told me. Thought Id ask here before I email them.

cheers

You should still only have to pay the US$131 fee but because you don't have it in writing (and all official) and because they didn't tell you when you scheduled the appointment, I think you need to email them so you have written confirmation.

I would shoot them an email, something like:

"At the time of receiving Packet 4 with my interview details, my interview was set for XXXX with a visa fee payment of XXXX. My interview has since been rescheduled for June 1st, prior to the implementation of the visa fee increase effective June 4th 2010. At the time of rescheduling my appointment, I was not advised of the visa fee payable for my interview date. I understand the fee to be US$131 but don't know what exchange rate you're using at the moment. Could you please forward me the new visa fee amount?. Kind regards".

I would bold the interview date so the email doesn't get set as Low priority. I would probably put "June 1st Interview" as the subject line.

Good luck!!

p.s. Virtual hug is fine :)

Webjet email this afternoon - V Australia Return flights per person - $987...

So I rang V Australia and spoke to them about the one way fares and they advised to book the return (cheaper) and make the return leg as far out as possible, fares are only available for the next 10 months BUT I can then change it. So, I'm thinking that we can use that return leg for when we come to Aus on holiday because they will tack it onto the trip back to the US as a return. At the moment, the cost of a change is $250 for that fare but well worth it.

Candice - whereabouts in Florida? At the moment, it's Tampa for me but that will be changing soon.

No go dam it :bonk: . If I don't here from them today then I will have to make a reasonable assuption and use the exchange rate they used for the $420. I will just add a few more $$ to it to make sure I cover the $131us . I even sent them another email yesterday similar to the one you posted here. I will give them a few more hours.
