Currently I think it's taking a week for the AVR to update. Have you checked the May NVC thread? I know it's slowed down a bit in the last couple of weeks. But not drastically. 2 weeks for a SIF still ain't bad. Margeritas and Mojitos the day you SIF ...

And by the way ... $1200 on Qantas for a return?? Really, grasshopper?? I swear I checked those dates 2 days ago with Qantas and de nada!! Too expensive.

when I was looking earlier on today - definitely... although they're already starting to go back up again...

$3000AUD?? That's insane! Tony and i can fly to Australia return for US$3000 for the BOTH of us. Maybe you need to re-think your planned trip? Maybe could it be the July 4th holidays that are bad? Or summer holidays start here in about a month so maybe that's it too?? I know in August it's not too bad price wise but I looked at late November (to visit aus) and WOW, an extra thousand or two.

It is cause of the holiday. Ham's been looking for flights for his family to come over before the wedding which is on July 10th. He wanted them here to celebrate the 4th but no matter what days he picked it was almost 2000 AUD per ticket. He finally selected for them to fly out on the 6th instead and it went down 700 AUD just by it being after the holiday.

That's very cool .. thanks for that Bacon. We can't spend July 4th together anyway because he'll be doing secret military business.

A Q for everyone ... I have not received anything from the Consulate. What is this mythical 3kg Express Post bag I keep reading about. Am I supposed to have one and do I Self-Adress? Thanks!!

When you get P4 you'll get an attachment that will list things you need to bring. There is a long list and they just put an X in the box of stuff you need. At minimum you will need to take your passport (duh :P), visa fee receipt (the amount will be listed in the letter and is paid at Aus Post), and a 3kg express post envelope.

You will self-address the envelope and they will stamp the sender stuff. If you like sometime tomorrow I can upload a copy of my P4 letter so you know what to expect. I'm just not at my comp at the moment otherwise I'd do it now.

Thanks, Vanessa. That'd be awesome ... my P4 has none of that listed. I checked the Consulate website as well and it only lists the documents for IV's which were already on my P4 and already received by NVC. We don't have to pay the visa fee because we had to pay that at NVC. Nothing about an Express Post bag but luckily I can read forums ... :bonk: So according to my P4, I just need to take my medical. I'd give anything to NOT have to collate evidence (see how well that works for me  )

And Bex ... hmmmm :bonk:

Here you go:

I didn't check that you were CR-1 but you can see from the letter that it says "immigrant visa" interview. The envelope is the last one in the list. If you list doesn't mention it though that's not your fault. If you wanted you could always buy one and not address it unless they ask for it, and then you could give it to family/friends to use if they want to send you stuff.

Hope it helps. Oh, also, bear in mind my interview was a while ago now :P

I got my P4 today and it is more stream lined then yours Vanessa.

It just lists the 3 things I needed on one page. Which are PASSPORT, FEES  ($420.20) AND THE 3KG EXPRESS POST ENVELOPE. Doesn't even tell me to take a ticket

Seeing how much the fee was really took the shine off getting P4. I am more pissed then happy. I'll get over it soon enough. I booked my flight for July 8th >people keep asking me if I am excited. I thought I would be more excited then I am. I am more numb then excited. Any body else feel this way or is the winter finally starting to get to me?
