Hmm, I would think that, but in my hours of research I saw that when the two sponsors put two different things, it causes trouble with the consulate.

So it was suggested that both put the same thing, whether it be N/A or "I intend"

I was thinking of both of us clicking "I intend" and then I put "to provide full support for the beneficiary, as needed" and my joint sponsor says, "to provide full support to the beneficiary, as necessary"

I'm guessing the question is moot for the K1, so ultimately it doesn't matter, but it seems some have had problems, and I just don't want to make any mistakes :)

Your suggestion seems a valid one.. "as necessary"... it's a good alternative. I think that's the way to go :)

Hi Terri, I don't post on here much anymore but I felt so sad when I read your post. I totally understand how difficult it is to be away from your kids, as many others on here do too. I know sometimes it feels like out of sight out of mind and the last thing you need is your mum saying such horrible things. You are not a bad mother! Even though my kids are all grown up 20, 22 & 26 years old I had the guilts when I came to live here 4 1/2 years ago and I too used to cry so often because I missed them so. I also have 3 grandchildren....one of which is turning 1 next month and I haven't even seen her yet but my life now is with my husband and it is the choice I made. All my boys gave their blessings when I left Australia and told me the most important thing was for me to be happy but u never stop missing them and being there for them. Just rememeber that you have a wonderful new life ahead of you here and don't let people that don't agree with your decision to move to the USA spoil that for you. I had quite a few family members not happy with my decision to move here and it will eat u up if u let it. Hugs to u,

Sue

I often wonder if my mother was in this situation when she left for the USA when I was 20... but I've never heard anything of it, so I'm guessing she's pretty good at keeping it hidden :hehe:

K VISA FEE INCREASE EFFECTIVE JUNE 4th 2010

As you know the winds of change have been around for a while. It is now official.

For K1's this means the Packet 4 instructions which tell you to pay the visa fee will now say US$350 instead of the previous US$131.

Please be aware that the fee is based on the Australia dollar and is to be paid at the Australia Post office. You CANNOT pay the fee until you get your letter that tells you the amount as it is dependant on the US to AUD dollar at whatever random time they check it. It will most likely NOT be the current (day you get the letter) exchange rate.

If you were to pay the fee today, it would be AUD$420.219 as the current exchange is 82.9c

Here is the VJ thread that has links from December when the increase was proposed, and also the update that states it is effective worldwide as of that date: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/257471-non-immigrant-visa-fees-increase-june-4th/

I feel the same way!

It seems like every time I turn around there's more money to pay :(

She'll probably get her packet 4 the day AFTER the increase goes into effect lol

But that's okay in the long run. It's worth it! :)

$3000AUD?? That's insane! Tony and i can fly to Australia return for US$3000 for the BOTH of us. Maybe you need to re-think your planned trip? Maybe could it be the July 4th holidays that are bad? Or summer holidays start here in about a month so maybe that's it too?? I know in August it's not too bad price wise but I looked at late November (to visit aus) and WOW, an extra thousand or two.

what dates and airline are you using?

if you look at the flexible dates with qantas, I'm seeing $1200 return (bne to lax direct) for july 8 -> july 25

I've also just been thinking...

With all the original docs that you have to send with the DS230... the travel.state.gov website (here - page 4), in regards to the biographic data page of your passport, says:

Submit a photocopy of the biographic data page of the applicant’s and the applicant’s individual family members’ valid passports. This is the page that shows the applicant’s name and date and place of birth.

Note: Do NOT send the applicant’s passport(s) to the NVC, just the photocopy of the biographic data page.

Please tell me that I didn't need to get it certified by a JP before sending it off to the USA?

I was thinking it was July 4th holidays as well. But that price is for both myself and my daughter. We were expecting/hoping around $2000 because that's what I managed to find for May but then he was working on coming here instead. I did not expect it to jump so much in the space of a few weeks. We flew in August last year and the flights cost me $3000 back then as well but it was planned well in advance so the money wasn't an issue then. After this whole process, him flying out here next week and everything else ... money is an issue now! I think we're just gonna have to suck it up.

Good luck with your trip ... bet you can't wait to get back home ... :star:

Currently I think it's taking a week for the AVR to update. Have you checked the May NVC thread? I know it's slowed down a bit in the last couple of weeks. But not drastically. 2 weeks for a SIF still ain't bad. Margeritas and Mojitos the day you SIF ...

And by the way ... $1200 on Qantas for a return?? Really, grasshopper?? I swear I checked those dates 2 days ago with Qantas and de nada!! Too expensive.
