Lol @ the 'Checking Agent'. I think it's stupid too and rather spell it the correct way CHEQUE. I'm not going to like having to change the way we spell things because I think the American way is wrong.....but I guess we just got to deal with it. I would have wrote the cheque the same as you and with the line for 0 cents.

I'm trying. I really am but it's hard. I try telling myself that American's are speaking something like french or german where the words are weird and different so to be understood I need to "speak french" but 'cause it's so close (and because they CLAIM it's english) I can't help but get a little rankled any time someone corrects me.

Oh funny story. I was at Walmart (I know, i'm so american :P) trying to find some paints for something to do. And I picked up a pack of watercolours. Tony said to me "you only want those because 'colour' is spelt wrong".. I said "huh?" and looked and it was spelt in ENGLISH with the "our" instead of "or" :D hehehe. I didn't even notice! They were from the UK so no wonder but I still think it's funny that I didn't notice it was "wrong" for america.. shows I haven't assimilated properly yet :P

Random post here:

Yesterday or the day before Tony and I went and were looking for a bigger folder for the immigration stuff. I don't have an spare plastic sleeves and the extra paperwork will fill up my current little display folder thing so I wanted to get a new folder as well. BUT they don't sell A4 folders here!! :( It's all letter size which is too small. I found one on the staples online website. It's a standard white lever arch one and it's $20!! So mum got a call and she's sending me a folder and some plastic sleeves. /sigh. What would I do without her!

I also tried jello for the first time today. Raspberry and Strawberry. Both weren't BAD but the artificial flavour made me miss aeroplane jelly :( I like the strawberry/raspberry aeroplane jelly :)

Found some other stuff that I like which is good too. Some "Crunch and Munch" and pillsbury cinnamon scrolls :D Crescent rolls with smuckers strawberry jam is good too :) So YAY!

Also extra question for anyone who's travelled... when you go home and you have your greencard.. do you feel just a little bit special??

You made me laugh Bacon. I understand what Ham was thinking.

I remember watching James eat biscuits and gravy and a side of potatos for breakfast. For one I hate white sauces/gravys and this gravy just looked gross and then to have it on something I would usually but Jam and cream with almost made me gag, and who eats potatos for breakfast anyway besides Maccas hash browns? That a dinner food not a breakie one.

I also noticed that Lasagna is made differently over there to here. Here we usually use a bechamel sauce (flour, milk, chedder (tasty) cheese melted and thickened) in place of the rocotta cheese.

Interesting times lay ahead of us I think. ;)

Nope!! you're not alone! (I'm not a biscuits and gravy person myself coming from Michigan).

Neil wasn't too impressed with our Bratwurst here......too salty or spicy I suspect. I really like vegemite and keep offering it to my friends. They take one sniff and then a tiny bite and their faces all screw up! LMAO

For one I hate white sauces/gravys and this gravy just looked gross and then to have it on something I would usually but Jam and cream with almost made me gag,

I am so hearing this sentiment! The first time I sat down to a meal over in the USA and Eric had biscuits with meatloaf...I about came unglued...I mean scones and they even brought Jam & Cream with them & he slathers gravy on them WTH PEOPLE!!

I am at the point of pulling my hair out...I know most of you have already been in this position but seeing that most of the December filers for CSC have been done...I am still waiting ever so impatiently now & going even more crazy. I dont understand why or how people who filed AFTER us have been approved & yet here we sit in hellish limbo. We had hoped for me to be there for my birthday mid April but the way it is going that is now doubtful which also throws a spanner in the works as my daughter was supposed to sign out at the end of this school term ready for moving in the holidays....it leaves me baffled as what I am to do with her I need to organise that fairly soon so the school here & there in Ohio is fully aware she is moving/arriving in April.

Sorry for being a downer this morning...its just hit me all shades of wrong today.

I tried vegemite once I think. It was weird but I don't have a horrorifying memory of it so it couldn't have been that bad. Yet he still looks at me weird when I have my peanut butter toast in the morning. :P Apparently, it's perfectly acceptable to eat a yeast by-product but a peanut one is nasty. There is something wrong with this picture.

Though my favorite Aussie thing is chicken salt. Mmmmmm....so good on fries.

Plus, I've already got the guys in my office wanting me to have a cook out when Ham gets here to make them Aussie burgers. I still think it's wrong to put a beet on a burger. :P
