Thanks Kaffy! Oh it will come around very quickly, I think I will have everything that I can possibly have ready, put together before I board that plane to LA lol. All we will need is signtures, dates and our evidence :). It really is an exciting journey isn't it. Call me crazy, but I'm actually looking at the whole thing as a fun, positive challenge!

Bacon that's great news ... I hope it's all super fast from now on :)

That is a great way to view it Jamie...because as it stands at present I am anxiously waiting for NOA2 and as much as I am busy running back & forth to Westmead Childrens 3 days of the week I am longing for the day when that beautiful piece of email arrives lol

An update from me ...

Saw the Lawyer last Monday, which was a total waste of time. I waited 3 weeks for my appointment, for him to tell me that they will only give advice, as they have too many people coming through their office at the moment and aren't being funded enough. He told me that I should try everything in my power to find my ex ... all I've been able to find is an email address that *might* be his ... found it through pipl.com.

I told him that I was scared to contact him, in case he said NO ... anyways, the Lawyer said I had a very strong case and that it would look bad if he said No, if we ended up going to Court over it, so I should email him.

So I took the chance, emailed that email address I'd found and got a response that same day, it was HIM! After a few backwards and forwards emails, he has agreed to sign a Stat Dec giving me permission to take my boy to the US permanently! This is such a huge relief and weight off my shoulders ... I will be feeling even lighter when I am holding the Stat Dec in my hot little hand lol. He is getting it done asap and posting it to me from NZ, so it looks like we will be filing the K1 in June definitely!

Hey Jaime - great you have that sorted ... :star:

Terri - hope your son is doing better. I'm sure your approval will arrive shortly so it's one less thing to stress about.

We are tracking fine. My DS-230 is ready - could have sent it last week to the husband but he is moving this week so I'm holding off. We're not in that much of a rush coz he'll be here in April now ... yayay. I really wanted him to come down here first before I moved so he could meet all my peeps. I've met all of his so it only seems fair. Hope you're all well!!

Same doctor that I had my medical. He was real nice  . They were quite accomodating. His receptionist is very nice and helpful too.

Where in Florida are you? We'll be in St Pete.

Hi all excuse my butting in. I've been lurking for awhile and decide to add myself to the fray.

So I decided to make the appointment with my local GP and get the vaccines I need (MMR/TDap). Was still tossing up weather I need the titre test but decided against it. I will just get the shots and get what evidence he has and worry about the rest later. Are prior vaccines like polio and such relevant? Do they need to know I had them? I think probably not

Has anyone thought about their pill? And how much they will take with them?

Oh um I know you weren't talking to me but I will be based in Sarasota FL.

hmmm why do I feel like I am butting in on a converstation.

good luck and wishes to all

Hi Candice :energy:

You are never butting in here. I got a full immunity count from my GP so that I will also have evidence of my immunities for when I an stateside. I have just been doing some research and it changed my mind again. I will get the doctor to get laboratory evidence of my immunity

grrrrr I wish it was more straight forward. The more I read the more confused I become. The reason I changed my mind is ....it takes more then one does of MMR and TDap to get full immunity and if I have no evidence of some immunity (later for AOS) Im worried Id have to get the whole set again. :help:

Hi Candice

Welcome to FL in advance!

I say take as many pill: 3-6 months worth, or up until he gets you into his insurance. They are a little pricy here. Make sure you have the script with you. I told the pharmacist that I was going overseas and they geve some form stating what the medicines were and that they were mine.

All the best.

Hey Candice :)

Check out the links in my signature, specifically the K1 one, which will explain the K1 process a little more and hopefully will help you feel a little more in control (I'm considering turning it into a blog actually.. what do you guys think?? Not with more entries but to put it all together on one page so no searching is needed)

For immunity, I took my full history (from my baby book that my mum had). I contacted the local council where I was born/grew up and they had my records so no blood titre was needed for me. In terms of vaccination, this is a good link for what you need: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/PDF/wk/mm5901-Immunization.pdf page 2 has the table :)

For multiple doses, what will happen, lets say for example you need 3 shots, 6 months apart. You will need to have the one in order to get the K1 visa (lets say your appointment is 1 June 2010 to make it easy) but then when applying for AOS, you will need to make sure you have any other shots that are now due and take a record of that shot to a civil surgeon (the equivalent of a panel physician but now in the US) to have it copied into a new vaccination record. You don't need to prove the shots that you already have, they copy your vaccinations from the K1 into the vaccination sheet, and any shots you've had since, and then give you any shots you still need (if any). For more on AOS there's a link in my signature on that too :)

If you have any questions please feel free to post them in the K1 thread in my signature :) and WELCOME :) I'm with Terri, never an interruption :D

**Edit - In regards to the pill, I HATE the pill :P I tend to get too busy and forget, so I had the Implanon rod inserted. it lasts three years. To get a little TMI, I had it put in around June/July and had MAYBE one period 2 months later (very light) and have had nothing since. I've loved that little thing btw :P I had the depo ralovera shot first as it is a 3 month version of the rod, to see how my body reacted to it. If you have a health care card it's around $20 or so (pretty damn cheap esp as it lasts 3 years!). If you DON'T have a health care card it's $250 or something like that. It's not permanent. If I decide i want to start trying for kids next year I go to the doctor and have it removed and fertility is restored pretty soon (like a month or 2). I HAVE to make sure it's taken out after 3 years because it's completely ineffective after that. The 3 year thing really works out really good for us. I'm 26 now and am happy to start trying for kids when I'm just under 30. I like that Tony and I have 3 years of just being us before we need to worry about that. I know there won't be any "oopses" which makes me happy because with the cost of the whole process, it gives us time to be where we want to be financially.

If you're set on taking the pill with you, double check with your doctor how many packs he'll let you get out at once (some have restrictions). Also SOME airlines have drug restrictions. I didn't come against anything but if you take too many they might think you're trying to on-sell them so perhaps even if you could get a letter from your doctor, and keep the drugs in a bag, with the letter from the doctor in an envelope saying "attn customs" so if they open and see them they open the letter and see the doctor permitted it for your use because of immigration.. maybe... it's an idea... though it could be unnecessary.

Ham went to Dr. Millar's in Sydney and got an appointment the next week. After two days he got a message from the receptionist that everything was fine and they were sending the forms to him for the P3.

So recommend Dr. Millar. I think that's the fastest ever. But it cost him a lot of money for it all. Only down side.

Vanessa, thankyou for your advice,

I have read you entries from "packet 3 to interview" and found it to be most informative and invaluable.

I don't have any records I even looked for my vaccination recordes with the council but being just little bit older I had no sucess, even got my mum asking our GP for me and even the Dr had no evidence of my having any shots there. So the titre test is the only way to show I have had some previous shots. I know I have had the Rubella shot in high school and I remember having a shot of something I'm guessing MMR in primary school too. I might as well just get the titre test and TDap and MMR. I have an appointment with my new GP on friday.

I have to take the pill for other reasons other then pregnancy prevention which rules out the implant.

I rang the local police station yesterday. The constable told me to come on a change over which is either 6am or 6pm as there might not be anyone there to do it other wise and to maybe just give a ring just before I come to see if its a good time. Its a small station ^_^

Thanks all for your help.

Candice

Thanks Bacon,

I was going to go with Millar. How much did Ham pay if you remember? And what was it that he had to have (vaccination) and did he have any records of his previous records with him?

Ok I have just spent the morning at my GP getting the Tetanus Boostrix which is required...take note this is all specific to NSW.

I had to pay for the injection -- it is not covered under medicare or under any form of concession card. It cost $41.95 whilst it is not a great deal in the grand scheme of the process but it is still another cost to add to the total. The Boostrix is free if you have just had a baby apparently, but it has been some time since that has happened for me lol so I didnt qualify. My 12 year old daughter needed the 3rd dose of the Cervical Cancer injections and let me say this I near had a heart attack. As it is no longer on the government subsidy it costs a whopping $240 and she HAS to have it. PAINFUL! Bek is now a very sore little girl at present...raiding the dvd shelf for the afternoon lol.

I hope everyone else is having a great weekend -- I am enjoying some peace & quiet for today & then into packing my luggage which arrived the other morning....a 5 piece luggage set that I got on Ebay for $95 including shipping & insurance. LIME GREEN as well -- so we wont miss that on the carousels lol.
