Hello fellow Aussies :)

I have just been APPROVED for my Visa (YAY!). I wanted to post my thread here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...206016&st=0 for those that want a detailed run-down of what to expect from NOA2 - Interview date (so far :P). I am from victoria so some of it (like medical tests) would only be relevant to Melbournians... but still :)

Hope some of you find it helpful. Grats to everyone that's already approved and good luck to those still waiting. :D

Yay Aussies!

Side note -- what, if anything, are you taking from Australia with you in terms of food or "must haves"? My list includes vegemite, milo, various chocolate and lollies :P, and some Mi Goreng noodles. Anything you can't live without?

Congrats! I think you covered the must haves. I bought over two jars of vegemite and will need a restock soon :) Luckily i have heaps of family and friends coming over in nov to replenish my stocks. If your a bundy rum drinker a bottle duty free would also be a good idea.

Hi Vanessa and Tony.. way to and congrats...

I am in the process of getting packet 3 completed in Readiness for Interview.. I may be just having a M&M Moment,, but am stuck on section 14 of the DS-230 Form Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration.. where it asks for Spouses Maiden or Family Name.. im not yet married is that a N/A or None Answer.... i mustve been so dam excited at getting thenote from the Sydney Embassy that my brain went into malfunction.. Am i meant to put Leonard's details in section 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 says date of marriage and as we are not married yet this confuses me..

Went to the police station to get fingerprinted and get police (Australia wide) background check started and had black ink everywhere, had a lovely Lady Constable who was joking with me, had an itch on my nose, totally forgot that i had black all over my fingers and scratched it, only to remember as i took my hand away, even the desk sargent couldnt help but laugh, took a fair while as they took every finger, thumb, half palm and full palm and hand print, i said are my feet next? lmao.. But at least they had this big tin of pink goop that got every lil bit of it off, the constable wiped my face for me hahaha then went home and called my best friend and said why didnt she answer my call to come bail me out ROFL..

Am going to call the Panel Physicians in Brisbane this morning and see what the waiting time is for an appointment for the medical.. and post off the DS-form also..

If anyone can answer my question above would greatly appreciate it.. Leonard has also put in for his Australian Visitor Visa so hopefully will be down here within a couple of months YaY!!!

Cheers from the Gold Coast to all.. Enjoy the day.. Local Show Holiday here so have a 4 day weekend and can be with my baby on Yahoo wooohooo

Yay for P3!

Form DS-230 Qn 14 is N/A. The thing to remember is this form isn't JUST used for K1 visas, and I overheard at my Interview that Part 1 is for us, and Part 1 & 2 is done if you're already married. So fill this form in as you are now. Spouse? "N/A" and all those other "Spouse" questions are N/A.

So based for qn's 15, 16, 17, 18 are all your information. So your parents details. At all stages, remember that unless it specifically says "spouses father" or whatever, it's referring to the person completing the form which is you :D

It will go so fast from here! You must've been so happy when there was that "pink stuff" to wash all the ink off :P Very good idea to call and book your medical appt now too. I paid to have my results express posted to me, so ask about that.

Is Leonard coming to visit on the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) or does he need to get a full visa? How long does that normally take? If he's on the VWP remember that you have to register online now... ESTA I think it's called. When is he arriving? You visa might even be complete in 2 months *fingers crossed* :D

Hope this helps. At some stage I'd like to scan my forms in, including my "Congratulations Your Visa is Approved" form. Either way I still have all my forms (and will for a LONG time :P) so I'm here if you need any other help or advice.

Good luck!

*waves at Warren & Cindy*

Thanks for such a fast reply Vanessa...

Is as i thought, N/A but am paranoid about getting everything right and not having it sent back i guess, have read so many posts where this has happened and has ended up stressing people to the max.

Leonard is applying for a 12 months non stricted (ie no 3 month stay limit) as My Dad was just diagnosed with terminal cancer, which has totally devastated me, and i may have to delay my interview, as he may not have very much longer with us, was sooooo happy to get P3 only to find this news out 3 days later, and of course i cannot leave under the Circumstances, so Leonard wants to be here to support Myself and the Family through the next few months and if we have to delay my interview until after the new year, then that is what we will have to do.. as he says we have all the time in the world, and we have waited thus far, and we both want to be here for My Dad and Mum and Family at this terrible time.

But i will go through the rest of the process so that at least that is done or being done, just phone the panel physicians rooms in Brisbane, they need one weeks notice, will send written confirmation where u must pay $100 non refundable deposit up front, and supply credit card details for the balance.. Total cost of the medical the US Consulate wants AUD$500.00!!!! NONE OF WHICH u can get back through medicare or private health cover.. so that one may have to wait until next month, just forked out $160.00 for the Police Background check and Council rates so back to working like a beaver to pay for everything lol.

Anyways time to go pour a bundy n coke and put my feet up.. its been a long hectic week,, Thanks again for all the help Vanessa truly appreciate it..

Hugssssssss Kaye & Leonard

Hello VJ Aussies!

Just wanted to quickly introduce myself. I'm just gonna do a quick copy and paste from my intro in the other Introduction Forum, so forgive me if you've already read this, hehe ;)

My name is Sophie and I am the AUSC and I am currently living on the Gold Coast. My fiance is Martin. We met last year in College Station, Texas. I was living there with my family on a H4 Visa, and he was finishing up his degree at Texas A&M. My family decided to move back to Australia, but Martin and I continued dating long distance. After a couple of visits and over a year of dating, we got engaged in July!

We haven't filed our application yet because Martin is currently traveling around the states with a graphic designer project and can't organize/sign forms while he does that -- we hope to file at the end of October when he arrives back home. In the meantime, I'm just trying to educate myself on the whole process, making sure I'm fully prepared for the journey we're about to take!

I'm always up for making new friends, or having a chat, so feel free to send me a message!

Hope you all have a great day!

Hi Simon and Janet,

My name is Katrina I've been here before a loooooong time ago. Me and my boyfriend have been talking now for 3yrs and I will finally have enough money saved up to go see him in Australia. I'm from Detroit Michigan and I would like to book a flight out to Brisbane Australia. It's been so long since I've been here that I forgot how to post to this forum specifically. But, I found your post and saw that you had just recently purchased a ticket. Please if you could help direct me where I can find a GREAT PRICE like you did, I would greatly appreciate it. It seems every where I look they want anywhere from $1300.00+ for a round trip ticket. Uggg...

PLEASE IF ANYONE CAN HELP WITH WHERE TO GET TICKETS FOR A GOOD PRICE LET ME KNOW.

Thank you,

Katrina

Hello Katrina.

I was looking last night at prices and saw that if i booked my ticket today instead of $896 it would be $1578! :o

I booked my flight through United Airlines, they were having a sale, as was Qantas.

So i'd keep watch on both of those airline sites for sales., because they really do make a huge difference!

Simon & Janet is referring to airfares booked flying out of Australia I think.. whereas you are looking at airfares departing from the US so the specials she saw won't really apply to you

I think $1300 is a pretty good deal for Detroit to Brisbane round trip actually
