Very cute baby Wayne! well done mate

Just a question for people living in the US already... did you get your SSN before did your AOS?? just looked at the form and i had to tick the alien not allowed to work... when im legally allowed to work, do i have to change that or does it change automatically?

On a K1 you can tick "legally able to work" as with an EAD you can. You CANNOT work without an EAD (you know I'm sure but just a reminder to others :D).

When you get the SSN it will say "DHS AUthorisation required" and this is your EAD. Once you get your GC you can go in and have that "DHS Authorisation required" part removed.

And yes I got my SSN 10 days (ish) after landing in my maiden name (sometimes getting it after marriage is hard - not supposed to be hard but sometimes is due to useless SSA employees). You don't need it for AOS and you can get it when you get your EAD as well. The reason I got it so quick though is because on the Iowa state website it said I needed it for the marriage cert. Turns out I didn't, my passport was enough but oh well, had it to file taxes anyway :D

Okie... here's some pics now I'm not being so slack LOL (sorry, this is going to take a huge chunk up on this page lol)

My baby girl, Erin Elizabeth Beattie :)

Adorable :) Congrats :D

I didn't get mine until after AOS but I didn't need it earlier. Was quick and painless.

thanks for that.. i read on the SC site that i will need one, but im going to have to get a letter from the marriage license department to give to the SSN department stating i need one for a marriage license! sounds like funnnn!! haha thanks for the help

Good luck Ashton & Ben, you will be fine! its not as scary as you think!! tell us how it went when you find out!!

You can't send the DS-230 till you get P3 (that's when it tell you to send it).

If you get P3 before you get what you need for P3 from your fiancee then just send the DS-230. If you have the stuff you can send it all at the same time. Also.. she's not your "Mrs", she's your fiancee. People have been denied at some consulates because they said stuff like that and the IO's thought they were actually married. Better to be safe than sorry!
