i had my interview on the 14th of august which was a tuesday and i had to get them additional info after the interview which i did pretty quick and had the visa in my hand by tuesday of the next week... its roughly around 5 business days

Thanks for that.

My interview will be on a Tuesday too, and I'm thinking about flying out the following Thursday, but of course I am keeping in mind that we are warned not to book flights until we have the visa in hand in case something goes wrong. But the prices have just come back down again, and it may be cheaper just to pay the change fee if I have to, rather than pay a higher price by waiting until the last minute.

OMG! bris to syd to lax to chicago to charlotte!!! that's just cruel!!! what are these airlines thinking lol :bonk:

My first trip I did syd to lax to chicago to houston...and I thought that was bad!!

I'll probably leave it for a bit and see what happens. Just hoping we don't have any problems at the interview... we already got held up at the NVC...I don't want anymore delays please!

Thanks....I appreciate the vote of confidence lol! It's not so much me that I'm worried about - its them lol! We got held up at the NVC for 3weeks because our marriage 'license' was 'unacceptable'! Then, after 3wks of supervisor review, it was all of a sudden 'acceptable'! Go figure!

And thanks for the tip about the other airlines....I look into it!

Hi everyone!

Just curious as to what airlines you all have used in the past.

I've usually used V Australia or United.

Was looking at United again....but they have now decided to start charging $70USD for the second checked bag for flights from the 15th August. Thanks United - you couldn't wait another few days lol! I am looking at flying around the 18th August, and of course, this trip I have three suitcases to move all my ####### lol. My mum is coming so I was going to put one bag under her allowance....but now we will have to pay another $140 for our 2nd bags.

Any suggestions?

I flew delta myself, I got two cases from Sydney to Dayton free of charge and I was able to put 23kg in each (50 lbs). The flights were comfortable and good service too, but pay the $150 extra for comfort economy upgrade, there was a heap more legroom and complimentary booze from Sydney to LA

Sorry they're confused. Your petition is approved, not the visa, and is valid for 4 months, not that you have to marry by then.

Your file will now be sent to Australia, then you'll get P3, return those documents (medical, police checks etc), then you'll get an interview letter and when you get approved there and receive your visa you'll have 6 months to use the visa, and 90 days once you enter to marry.

The way I figure it, even paying $70 per bag for 23kgs is HEAPS cheaper than mailing/shipping stuff.

i'm interested in this aswell actually. I flew united last time as i was quite happy with them. but what i did was went into my travel agents, told here the dates i wanted to leave and return and just told her to find me the cheapest flights possible, lol.

I flew united because it was cheaper. I'd gladly pay $70 per extra bag next time I fly (not that I don't love free bags) because there's a few things I need to bring back and shipping last time was $160 for 8kgs... so $70 for 23kgs? totally worth it!
