All the best for your wedding day tommorrow Cham & Kai........I'm sure it will be wonderful!

Anne, Glad to hear you made it ok and without too many problems and hope all your wedding plans are coming together.

We've been back from our trip to Australia for almost a week now and I have only just recovered from the jet lag.....must be getting old.....mind you going back to work tuesday didn't help much. It was a great trip and wonderful to spend time with my kids, grandkids, family and friends but I wish it had have been longer. The weather was perfect and walking on the beach every morning was soooooooooo great.......I miss the ocean!

Take care everyone,

Susan

Hi Susan,

Its always so refreshing to get back on to aussie land after living away from home for a while isnt it? Also, leaving aussie is hard too cuz there's nothing like home! Im sure I'll get home sick even though I've lived in the states previously..but this time it will be on a permanent basis....Im glad you enjoyed yourself!

hey guys, good news, we got an email saying our noa2 had been sent today!! :)

i have a question- i'd like to set up my medical appointment (melbourne) as last time i asked they had a one month waiting list

but i know i'll need my pack 3 stuff for when i have the appointment and what if for some reason they don't come in time? worried the one month wait will delay my interview which i need asap

id just set up the appointment but they're asking for a $95 fee to do so!

ok, well that's not what i wanted to hear ;)

were you instructed to do so in the pack 3? the embassy website just says the following, though i'm sure i've read elsewhere stuff about fingerprint check- maybe on the police website.

Police certificates

Police certificates are required for each visa applicant aged 16 years or older. The table below shows how many police certificates are required based on where each applicant lives and has lived previously. Present and former residents of the United States should not obtain any police certificates covering their residence in the U.S.

If the applicant… And… Then the applicant needs a police certificate from…

is living in their country of nationality at their current residence for more than 6 months is 16 years old or older the police authorities of that locality.

lived in a different part of their country of nationality for more than 6 months was 16 years or older at that time the police authorities of that locality.

lived in a different country for more than 12 months was 16 years or older at that time the police authorities of that locality.

was arrested for any reason, regardless of how long they lived there was any age at that time the police authorities of that locality.

The police certificate must:

* Cover the entire period of the applicant’s residence in that area, and

* State what the appropriate police authorities’ records show concerning each applicant, including all arrests, the reason for the arrest(s), and the disposition of each case of which there is a record.

http://canberra.usembassy.gov/consular/visas/iv/family.html

no mention of fingerprints, hmmm. i don't have a problem with the check, it's just the extra expense we could do without :)

further, this is what the vic police site says:

http://www.police.vic.gov.au/content.asp?Document_ID=274

$30.70 for national name check, $127 for name and fingerprint. if i went to the melbourne police office and got either one of those, would that qualify, since it's national, for the requirements above which state i need one from each palce i've lived more than six months? or do i have to go to each local police station near where i've lived in this country? (all in vic)

I had my name and fingerprint check in Sydney - $175. The form you will complete at the police station will ask what the purpose of the application is for. If the purpose if for a visa application, it says you will need to complete both name and fingerprint check.

If you've lived in your current residency for more than 6 months then you only need to go to that local police station and they will put in a request for your name/fingerprint check.

Hey guys, I'm nowhere near this stage yet but wanted to get some info -

During the interview at the consulate, how serious are they about the I-134 Affidavit of Support? Has anyone had any issues with having a co-sponsor? I've read that some consulates are more concerned about it than others.

July 2007 - met Jesse at a beach party held by mutual friends in Long Island, NY

May 2008 - J-1 visa expired, had to move back to Australia

July 2008-September 2008 - lived with Jesse for three months in Staten Island, NY

March 2009 - Jesse comes to Australia for 3 weeks

April 2009 - Engaged!

05/20/09 - I-129F petition mailed in

05/22/09 - NOA1!

05/25/09 - touch

09/09/09 - NOA2!

10/01/09 - due to fiance's illness, we are abandoning pursuit of K-1 at this point. Packet 3 received from consulate but won't be returned.

i haven't had my interview yet either but from what i hear sydney are cool with it. i hope so as i have a co-sp too!

great thanks! i assume just going to the melbourne cbd station would be cool even though i live in the inner burbs.

also, is it ok to go get the police check now while i wait for pack 3? i've read conflicting reports on whether they issue it to me or send to consulate. they give it to me, right, so i don't need to wait for my pack 3 case # or anything?
