Approved!!! Well, approved pending clear police checks. Which, they will be clear. They are supposed to be due today... so I think he is going to try to call to check in on them.

He also has to send the Consulate his passport.. He was supposed to leave it there today, but he is planning a trip to New Zealand this month. He is giving a month's notice at work tomorrow.. so his trip to NZ will be completed before he flies over here. I'm a bit nervous about sending his passport to the Consulate... like, what if he doesn't get it back before his planned trip?

But yeah... approved!!

Start here: Ticker Factory Fill in the various fields and once you get to the end it will give you a bit of html code. copy and paste that into your signature and it's all done once saved

Hey guys, just want to confirm something with the I-134... Forgive me if it's been answered before but my search yielded nothing aussie specific.

My fiance only started working full time a couple of months ago and makes over the poverty line but just as a backup his father is co-sponsoring. Neither of them are self employed, yet I am reading all this stuff about having their tax returns 'just incase'. Is this really necessary if I have paystubs/letter from employer and bank statements? The USCIS instructions are clear on only needing them if the sponsor is self employed. Has anyone in a similar situation been asked for them before?

I should really stop over analysing - reading VJ makes me extremely paranoid haha..

I know what you mean about the paranoia LOL Even though the tax records aren't needed, my fiancee is sending her w2 forms to me anyway... we figure better to have them and not get asked for them than vice versa.

From the way she described them to me, they sound a lot like our aussie group certificates, and I am pretty sure she was able to photocopy all three onto just one page. No experience with this myself either yet, but for what it's worth, I'm taking them

Tax returns are NOT required in Australia (some consulates want them). It certainly doesn't hurt to have them because you will need them for the AOS stage anyway (once you're in the US and married).

Always better to have than not have.

Also, yes, they're basically the same as our PAYG statements... well serve the same purpose anyway.

So... even though he's approved, we're still waiting on the Police Checks. He called up the NSW Police peoples to check on that one. Seems it was just waiting on a final something-or-other. It was sent out today to the Consulate. They said they'd get it by Monday, and that it'd take a couple days to get in and arranged from the Consulate mail room.

The NZ one though... he called them up and apparently, they have "Nothing in the system for that name." So he emailed the Consulate (since he can't find a phone number to talk to a real person) and asked about it. We're waiting on that reply.

So who knows how long that will take!

Kiwi, from what we were able to find out with the NZ check it takes 10 days to 2 weeks but I wouldn't put money on that, embassies are black holes that suck documents in and spit them back out at random!
