Dave and Shannon... Update for you - my police report arrived in the mail this afternoon, seems I had no problem getting mine sent straight to me. As for timeframe, it took 14 days (submited about 11pm on the 10th of this month, so 13 days kinda sorta)

Thanks for the update mate, im getting mine sent to me too.. i did it yesterday about 1pm qld time so hopefully will be around the same time frame as you.. now to ring the consulate to see if i can put in a service request... scary calling them! haha

Yeah I haven't contacted them by phone yet... have via email a couple of times and always got polite, helpful replies. So I think you should be fine Let me know how you go.

yeh i think ill be alright, they were polite to my mrs who is in the US.. ill be calling them in about 20 mins so ill post on here how i go

well i thought they were on Eastern Standard times.. they say call between 8am and 8pm.. and its 8:17am there eastern standard time.. so ah #######, might try again in the morning.. gotta be up at 4:45am...

lol no the USCIS number haha i dont think u can ask the sydney one to check can you? plus last time i called them a 18 months ago, they charged me like $30 to just talk to them!

I had the same issue when I called the Social Security office when I was back in Aus. I was an hour early and had to wait longer to call. Don't know if you noticed your VJ post was at 7.17am? So whatever time you called USCIS try calling an hour after whenever you tried calling when you posted this.

I called up at 5:05am this morning and took about 10 mins max and the lady had problems hearing things so i went over it a hundred times haha, but we got there and i asked for a service request and she told me it was in normal processing times and i would hear something in 12 days, which sucks because other people on this site have put in service requests for the same day as ours.. i was going to say that but i was so nervous so im like ok thank you haha so i guess i wait another 12 days

I got approved on tuesday!! woohoo! Just wanted to share Thanks for all your help guys.

Just wondering what happens from here?... I have my medical and police report already - SO is sending over the affadavit. I've read that I should call the NVC but I don't see a reason why? Is there something I am missing?

Also any idea how long interviews are taking nowadays? xxxxxxx

oops, just to add so i don't sound like a complete n00b.

I know that I will just have to wait for packet 3 now but is there anything I can do make this last part move along any quicker?

gahhhh 7 months apart now and cannot wait to live to tell the tale!

Congratulations on your NOA2

You can ring the NVC to get your case number (a new number is assigned starting with SYD). You can use the case number to track your file to the Sydney Consulate and (in my case) QLD required you to have a case number before you could book the medical (which you already have in hand).

Apart from that sit back and wait and enjoy what comes next - after a long wait it moves much quicker now!! Kiwi was in line for an interview very recently so if you look at their timeline it should give you a fair idea of what's happening

He has his paperwork all ready to fill out... so everything was mailed back the very next day. Also, he had his Police check (Aus) started and his medical complete before we got Packet 3. So we were able to respond VERY quickly. Because of that (or luck?) we got an interview in about two weeks-ish from sending the Ready for Interview Checklist Packet back to them.

Fabulous. So just to clarify... I can send back all the needed paperwork together with DS230I-Pt1 as soon as I receive packet 3?

What is included in packet 4 then? Is it just the interview date?

I sent the DS form back first and then the rest about a week later but that was only because I was still waiting for my medical results. If you've got it all ready to go send it all together.

Packet 4 is simply the letter telling you date and time of interview

With regards to tracking your package through to the consulate I followed the instructions in this thread. It worked for me but takes a little bit of fiddling lol.
