Thanks everyone Yeah I'm a little upset today as I was hoping it would all be over yesterday but will email the consulate weekly until I get my passport back.

The Australian police cert was so easy to get and I got the New Zealand one based on information available on the internet. It wasnt until I returned the first of the packet 3 forms that I discovered only the consulate can apply for the check from the New Zealand Police (mine was from the Ministry of Justice) so I sent the form back straight away back to the consulate. So they received it 3 weeks ago today. Am a little surprised then the check wasnt back before the interview but then again the Ministry of Justice one took 5 weeks - so now back to waiting again

Ohhhhhhhhh am sorry to hear you have a hold up over the NZ Police Clearance, but hopefully it will be sent and you will get full approval asap.. we have a hold up here submitting my AOS, Leonard put his folder with all the original documents in one of the boxes being shipped over here as he wanted to give me more room in one of his suitcases for the flight over, i kept my lever arch folder thinking i had copies of everything, have prepared my AOS, EAD and AP before we went on our honeymoon, only to find i didnt have a copy of the NOA2 approval it's in Leonard's folder, packed in a shipping box in storeage in Brisbane, as we are still waiting for Movements International to get someone else to fill the container before they ship it stateside, so we rang Vermont Service Centre only to be told we had to send in and I-864 request for copy of approved document plus a cheque for $340 i was like your kidding? You cant print one off and post it? Nope you have to submit for a copy,so sent that off two weeks ago before we left on our honeymoon, got home Saturday and found a receipt from Vermont now waiting on the replacement NOA2 before we can submit the rest of our documents.. I know its our fault, had i known Leonard put it in one of the shipping boxes i wouldve yanked it out and stuffed it in my suitcase, but it wasnt until i was packing that i found out and by that time it was way too late.. sigh..

Oh man - $340 for a replacement letter? You have got to be kidding me!!! Thanks for the heads up on that I'll make sure Ted puts ours in a very safe place lol. What a nuisance Faye - sorry for the delay! But hope you had a great honeymoon

Yeah I know I'll be fine as I have no police record - the problem is I dont know how long the wait is going to be - I saw a VJ thread that NZ police checks can take 6-8 weeks to be processed and then they have to get back to Oz who then have to issue the visa so now I'm thinking my 29 October fly date and 13 November wedding date arent looking so great. I dont dare book anything else until I know the visa is back underway again....so no not really a happy camper.

Interesting on the Police Cert though... I guess you've given your print to the Consulate now and they send that over to NZ to check it. That being said, the AUS Police do say on their phone "wait upto 6wks for results" so I wouldn't be surprised if the kiwis do similar to cover their asses *shrugs*

October 29 is 2mths away... that's a lot of time for a lot of GOOD things to happen

I'm hoping that one last good thing happens within the next 12 days or I'll be really shitty... hahaha!

No Worries hon easy to do, im using my laptop until the shipment of my stuff arrives from back home, probably still in storeage in Brisbane as we had to wait until somebody else took the other two thirds of a container [now 3 months since it was packed June 4th] and still not used to the keyboard on this, and at times it jumps back while you are typing and unless you check its all gobbldy ###### lol..

Had some bad news this morning when i called my Mum, my Dad's Cancer has returned and he was in hospital this past weekend having blood pumped into him, so they did a Gastroscope and found he had blood leaking into the small portion of stomach he had left after having most of it removed 12 months ago, the Doctor found cancer there and also some spots on his liver, so now Leonard is emailing Australian Immigration to get another Visitor Visa and im praying that Vermont will get the duplicate copy of NOA2 off to us this week so i can submit AOS, EAD AND AP as we may have to fly home before the end of this year, Mum told me she had spoken to his GP who said tell Kaye not to panic at this stage the cancer is not affecting any of his organs, but still i want my AP in place so that if i do have to fly home i wont have any problem getting back into the USA ive heard such horror stories of people flying back home due to family illness then being unable to get back into the US because they didnt have their AP in place, even though they had called INS before they left to advise why they had to leave the country.. just another thing to stress you out on, oh well i will just to be patient, i have all the documents i need for AOS, EAD and AP printed, so will get them all together with attachments ready to go when we get the duplicate NOA2 am kicking myself for not making sure i had Leonards file with me but oh well as my Mum said today no good crying over something you cant change, just be prepared for when it does arrive so we can submit with an urgent cover letter explaining the situation and ask for AP asap.

I hope your NZ police report comes through really soon, as per one of the other comments its two months until your flight and am sure the report will be sent through well before that.

Thanks Kaye Yeah I know 29 October is 2 months away so still a good chance of making that flight....the depressor for me I guess is that was plan B lol - I figured with having an interview 31 August I'd have the visa back within a week and then I could bring my flights earlier - it's Ted and Montana's (his daughter's) birthday on 4 October so was hoping to get away early and be there for those after all Pfffft back to waiting.

Sorry to hear about your Dad but pleased you're getting all your AP ducks in a row just in case.

Someone came to look at the car today. It still has this retarded little oil leak that seems to still be there no matter how many times I give it to the mechanics... the only way to stop it is by spending ~$500 on it... and I'm not sure I want to do that right before selling it. It might be my only option though.

Yikes! I'm alive, though I feel like I've dropped off the face of the earth. Can't believe I'm here and can't believe I've been here for a month! We're slowly gearing up for AOS and with our wedding less than two weeks away I feel surprisingly worry free. Mind you, it won't be the huge performance that I think Matt's family would like, but it will be lovely and very 'us' all the same.

For anyone who has to apply for social security on a K1 visa - all I have to say is that Social Security for the most part really have no idea what they are doing and if you have to pay them a visit, please print off the internal memo regarding K1 visa holders under the SSN guide on here - it saved me much hair pulling (my own) and stern yet polite words (funnily enough, also my own.)

In news unrelated to Social Security, I will never fly Southwest Airlines again.

ok, I need some advice on my work auth statment. They are saying that my position is considered fullt time/temp right now cause I am still in the probationary period. If I send that to the consulate do you think that they will see it as a temp position? As of October 5th I won't be considered "temp" anymore.
