Yes I got confused about that too - he only completes pages 1 and 2 and sends them back - pages 3 and 4 relate to a different kind of visa I understand.

Good luck with the car - I was lucky that one of my besties bought mine in June and then lent me her old car to drive until I go - one less problem to deal with.

I'm air freighting 4 boxes and 1 bag totalling 100 kgs. The cost is $700 but that's no insurance and I have to deliver them to Eagle Farm (no biggy there).

Sure use me as a referral if you like - he'll probably mutter that crazy kiwi under his breath :P:rofl:

okay so currently i'm at:

32.7kg Audio Equipment Roadcase

7.1kg Trombone

30kg records (box)

15kg records (record case)

God damn this is going to cost alot :crying: :crying: :crying:

Ahh yes, the age old conundrum. Same with me. I have the ability to work of course in terms of legality, but I need a car/truck to GET to work. We need to save for the truck which is hard to do since I'm not working and tony's income pays the bills. Vicious cycle but we're getting there as I'm sure you are too. Can you loan the extra from family and/or friends?

Yeah, my mom is helping us out by paying us back for the wedding since she's paid for my sister and brother's wedding but wasn't able to pay for mine. But it's slow going and my brother seems hell-bent on making sure she doesn't so she can give him money. :P It's just a mess.

And....still no promotion. I've been waiting a year on it now but my boss says it should hopefully be in a few months. *crosses fingers* We could so use the money.

We're just lucky that we're near a big city so Ham can do the mass transportation once he gets a job.....if we could just file the stupid paperwork. :P

Hopefully next month.....

Ness -- I am sorry for what oyu are going through -- we have discussed it at length and you know I am right here anytime you need me to be *hugs*

Bacon, I understand all too well the AOS predicament. We put mine & Beks on a credit card & are slowly paying it off...we did it that way so at least I will have it to then look for work. What is driving me insane at present is the jobs being advertised all over town that I cant apply for because I dont have my EAD or my GC ARRGGHH!!

All is well here otherwise...Bek returns to school in 2 weeks YAY! I have spent more time baking & cooking over the last 4 months then I ever have...but the food I have been making is so good!

Oh, I always hate that too. When you see things that you could do but you're just missing one thing so you have to keep waiting. It's just so frustrating. I don't get why you have to go through hoops just to get a job. Like the interview process isn't hard enough. :P

I think the insurance will be a killer... It's about 9k worth of musical equipment haha...

Plus I still have probably another two boxes of personal items to take... Which I don't have the weight of yet... So I'll just ask to assume the worst and a max KG of 30 each...

Annnnd I forgot I hadn't posted this yet. Just emailed off the request... And I thought I was stressed for the NVC paperwork/interview...

I'm going to cry.

My car had a little oil leak a while ago, which I took it to the mechanics and they fixed a couple of gaskets and said it was all good. Its been perfectly fine for the 1-2mths that its been...

This morning I see a little plume of smoke, and my gut wrenches.

Then tonight someone wants to check out the car (which I had listed as "great condition mechanically" because well, its been serviced and the leak was fixed and all... AND THE FKN OIL LEAK seems to be back.

:crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

PRESSURE = EPIC FAIL RIGHT NOW... WHY?!?!?!?! Stupid car gods *shakes his fist*

yeah, I'll be calling them in the morning... have a few people that want to have a look at it on the weekend, so I'll have to see if they can fix it and get it RWC'd on Monday...

time for bed tonight though... I really need to destress/relax... haha

This weekend will finish packing the boxes to send I think... and pack my luggage to make sure I have everything... then all the rest gets thrown out, sold or given to vinnies/life line... :bonk: :bonk:

Just catching up with what's been happening on VJ the last few weeks.

Vanessa, I'm sorry to hear the sad news about your dad :( *hugs*

I just got back on the weekend from my holiday back home and also used my green card for the first time :) I had a really bad start to my holiday even before I left the US. My trip ended up taking 48 hours instead of 24. My flight from DC was delayed almost 3 hours due to a technical problem with the aircraft and then the weather. I thought I had plenty of time in between flights but I was wrong! As the plane I was on from DC was pulling up to the gate in LA I see my Qantas plane to Brisbane leaving....I wanted to cry. I was so darn mad and upset especially since they held the Qantas flights to Sydney and Melbourne even thought they were due to depart earlier than the Brisbane flight. So I had to stay in LA 24 hours by myself until I could get the next flight to Brisbane. I was so mad because I ended up missing my friends 30th birthday party I was going to the day I was supposed to arrive. At least the airline gave me hotel, shuttle and food vouchers otherwise I would have been even more p*ssed. Oh and another thing I'm p*ssed at Qantas about is I didn't get the vegetarian meals I had requested on either of the Qantas flights because my booking was changed....grrr!

Other than that drama I had a wonderful time back home with my family. We went to the Ekka for the first time in more than 10 years, it was fun taking the kids. So now that I'm back it's time for me to start looking for a job. I need to find the motivation.....I've got so use to being a housewife.

Got back from out honeymoon this morning, and it was such a nice feeling to come back into the US using the citizen/resident line! 20 minutes between getting off the plane and getting on a shuttle outside the terminal to get home! And we got a lovely CBP officer to boot :)

As a side note, my tickets and my passport were in different names. (Passport in maiden, ticket in married). It wasn't a hassle, I carried a copy of our marriage licence with us and showed both my green card and passport when checking in with Aeromexico.

Have to say though, I was paranoid about losing my GC the entire trip!
