As for Alex and I....we leave to take out long awaited honeymoon in a few days! A week in Cabo San Lucas, yay! Only three more days of work for the both of us and off we jet. This will be the first time that I use my green card too.....a very momentous occasion for a newly minted immigrant, hahahaha, Our six months married is next week too

We had our one month yesterday. Nothing special done other than a woohoo made it a month type. Figure we'll do something special maybe for sixth month and definitely a year.

Good luck with the car - I was lucky that one of my besties bought mine in June and then lent me her old car to drive until I go - one less problem to deal with.

I'm air freighting 4 boxes and 1 bag totalling 100 kgs. The cost is $700 but that's no insurance and I have to deliver them to Eagle Farm (no biggy there).

Sure use me as a referral if you like - he'll probably mutter that crazy kiwi under his breath

As for the boxes, thanks for the short info... that sounds pretty similar to what I *think* I'll be sending over... I just have to measure it up this weekend and make sure its what I want to send - then I'll give them a buzz to organise. Do they require any sort of notice, or is it pretty much as simple as call, quote, drop off, pick up at other end after a period of time?

He said he only needs a couple of days notice but bear in mind when you drop off your stuff it sits in some sort of security warehouse for 7 days before shipping - some new security rule or other!

And my boxes are 3 of those standard cardboard "tea chest" size, one large one containing pictures and a clear plastic storage bag containing a rolled up mattress memory foam - but he seemed to be more interested in the weight.

You're a kiwi? did you have to provide a New Zealand police certificate for your file? and if so did you send them the ministry of justice letter or did you fill out their letter addressed to NZ Police and let them get one?

Thanks for the dimensions Makes more sense now... I have a Trombone and a Roadcase I need to send, so I'm hoping they won't bend me over with price...

I do have my passport back, I actually thought it was just going to be a stamp put into it, but its actually a full page sticker... The countdown is on... 1 week of work down, 2 more to go, then 2 spare weeks to tie everything else off after that... then BON VOYAGE!

Tell you what, they've been reporting soft employment figures for the US every morning on the news... and every morning I question myself how amusing it seems like it will be to go over and get a decent paying job

Congrats Carebear, way to go, wish you good luck for the interview not many days to go now, our Wedding was Beautiful and thanks to my Maid of Honour i was 20 minutes late getting to the church, Leo thought i may have changed my mind he was pacing the porch of the church as our entourage of 5 cars and pickups drew up at the church i saw him draw a big sigh of relief, our wedding was July 31st and have been married 12 days today, we just went to Walmart and bought a 32 inch Samsung LCD TV for the bedroom with our Walmart Gift Cards as Leo's bedroom TV gave up the ghost while my g'friend and her daughter were here for the wedding. Thank you cards were done and sent out yesterday, and now im starting the AOS paperwork, as we want to get that submitted before we leave next week for the BEACH [somewhere in North Carolina we think lol] for our honeymoon..

LOL Nick I already have an airline ticket - I booked it while it was on sale figuring worse case scenario I would change the flight date if needed. My POE (fingers crossed) will be LAX on 29 October 2010. Once I have the visa in my hand I just have to book in the freight and dog and I'm good to go - it will be chill and relax time the last 2 months (and a few parties to boot )

Speaking of which my 2 best friends are coming to Sydney with me - their final hurrah road trip if you will I know they cant come with me to the consulate but after we'll be hitting the town for lunch and shopping before flying back to the coast that night. Is a great day today indeedy

Roadtrip huh... Just be aware of the ridiculous parking costs when parking in Sydney city I also expect to see you bouncing around in the window of sunrise
