Hey all!

Just found out some fantastic news and wanted to share with those who might be interested!

Hubby and I have been trying to figure out how to get Bundaberg rum over here since neither of us care for the brands sold in the US. We thought we could just have friends/family send us over a bottle or two, but found out that that wasn't a possibility.

After some research and several emails, I found an online company that will ship to the US and that has a 99.9% success rate with getting the bottles through. They stated that the 0.1% that do not make it to their destination always get returned to them and you have the option of paying postage again to try resending it or to have the purchase price refunded if you choose not to try again. They can't guarantee delivery but they have had minimal problems with it.

So, if you're a Bundy fan and miss it, the site is http://www.royalmilewhiskies.com/ (and of course, there's more than just Bundy on there!). We'll be sending off an order this weekend and will let you know how ours works out!

Cheers!

LOL, that's why I've been looking for ways for the last 6 months!! Never thought the stuff here was that bad til I went to see my hubby and had Bundy. Now, I can't tolerate the taste of our stuff and the hubby won't even call it rum, lmao! Can't wait til his paycheck is cashed tonight so we can get our order in! Thinking if we order in small quantities at a time it will draw less attention, so only going for one bottle this time. Will let you know if we're successful :)

Has anyone had to renew their Aussie passport before they got permanent residency? My Aussie passport is due to expire early in the new year, but I need to renew it as I'm planning on going home for a few weeks in April. The problem is that my K1 visa is in my old passport, and I'm pretty sure I'll have to relinquish it to get a new one. Trouble is, I need the passport with the K1 in it to re-enter the US on my return.

hey your k-1 has expired so u can't use it any more anyway, but i'm sure u want to keep it, I know i do! have u called a Aust consulate near u? I called one the other day becuase I have to renew mine aswell but i'm not leaving the country. man she was so nice & it was so nice just to talk to an Australian, she told me so much info, very helpful! I'm sure they'll tell u what u have to do too. when u renew yr passport they give u yr old one back unless its seriously damaged & u can renew it in the US. here is the link http://www.australianyc.org/nycg/Passport.html

hope this helps :)

has anyone registered their wedding with BDM yet? i'm told we have to do that b4 we can change our names on our Aust passports.

No because the QLD BDM won't allow overseas marriages to be registered by them

You can't get married at home again because you are already married. It's legally recognized there, it just isnt' registerable (is that a word?)

If you apply for the change through the Aussie Embassy here I believe you can just use your marriage certificate as proof so that you don't have to involve the BDM at all*

*Assuming you are Aussie citizen through birth. If you're a citizen through naturalization then that's a whole nother story

I can relate totally...Eric left at the beginning of November & I am still struggling to bounce back into some resemblance of normality...kids being of Summer break now does not help...I am not looking forward to Christmas this year at all.

no way!? so how do we go about changing our names on our passports, I'm from QLD too can we register in another state? or do we have to get married at home too?

I found this that should help you on name change in QLD: http://www.justice.qld.gov.au/change-name-...gh-marriage.htm there's a part on overseas marriage that says:

"Married overseas

The national proof of identity framework followed by many government agencies emphasises that changes of name need to be able to be linked to an original birth event and be verifiable with the issuing agency. The framework states that compliance with this instruction is particularly important for agencies that issue identity documents. For this reason, women married overseas may have to lodge a change of name application."

As for passport, the link someone posted I'm not sure about, so here is the actual Australian one that gives you overseas links applicable to your area: https://www.passports.gov.au/Web/Renewal/index.aspx Here is the information on marriage overseas and your passport: https://www.passports.gov.au/web/requiremen...gemarriage.aspx and here is the info in their FAQS: https://www.passports.gov.au/Web/FAQ.aspx#faq10

For those interested, you also need to apply for a change of name if you're in Victoria. Vicroads for instance needs an Aussie marriage cert or a name change doc: http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Licens...hangeOfName.htm

Here is the name change info for Vic: https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/CA2574F70...r+name~&3=~ and the FAQs page: https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/CA2574F70...e+FAQs~&3=~ it's $87.20 in Vic.. /sigh.

Hope that helps someone :D
