AP stupid question

Hi,

Should my AP application be in my maiden name? I wondered if it had to match my passport.

I'd have thought that too, but on the VJ exampe forms, the married name has been used.

My AP is in my married name. Your visa has your A# and tons of other info to connect the 2. I will be taking a copy of my marriage certificate with me.

It would be odd if you filed your AOS, and EAD in married name and AP in maiden.

If you filled out all your ins applications under the married name

the AP should be also under your married name.

Only your plane ticket should match the passport name (maiden name in your case).

That's what I have done and I had no problems.

Ideally everything -- including your passport -- should be in your married name (if that is the name you intend to use from now on). But I understand sometimes people don't want to send their passport away to be amended in case the AOS interview comes up or sometimes you can't amend it from the US.

I second the advice to carry your marriage certificate with you since not all of your documents match, and the marriage certificate is what ties the old and new names together.
