I almost went to see it but now I'm not so sure. My 18 year old son went to see it Friday at midnight and said he hated it. Good on effects but bad on story is what he said.

I think the problem with Watchmen is that there's too much story, the narrative is pretty dense and heavily layered - that can throw you for a loop if you're expecting another Spiderman or Iron Man type superhero movie. Its not like that at all.

I think you can follow it without having read the book - but I'm not sure if you'd get anything out of the movie for having read it.

Even at 2 3/4 hours they had to cut and condense a lot of stuff, and there's a part of it that's not in there at all. Its a separate story within the main storyline - there's a DVD of that out at the end of the month.

I have heard that there's going to be a couple of different edits when it comes out on DVD - a director's cut and an extended edition with the Black Freighter material added back in. Of course that's probably going to put the run time around the 4 hour mark - which is hard going on anyone.

with Alan Moore, yes, I'd strongly recommend to read the novels first..

some of his work can't be synthetized in a movie.. V for Vendetta.. everytime V speaks in the graphic novels, he gives a freakin speech, it'd be a 5 hour movie lol if it were real to the novel

My friend had an extra ticket so I tagged along not knowing what to expect...I enjoy all types of movies and even though I'm not a comic book movie type of fan, I did see the last batman movie and ironman, and those were entertaining. I found watchment to be a bit boring. My friend who has read the comic book was a bit disappointed with the movie, but he liked it a lot more than me. I'm glad I didn't pay to see the movie though! hehehehe

IMO.. even though Batman's Joker was the pwn.. Ironman was the most entertaining comic movie

I never got the big deal about Iron Man... nothing really happens in the movie till the very end.. most of the movie was just RDJ tinkering with his suit... but Gwyneth Paltrow was very good in the movie

yeah RDJ was good in the movie too.. my only compliant is that nothing really happened in the movie.. it seemed like it was just a lot of set-up.. maybe if they do a sequel it will be better..

I didn't care for Iron Man - I thought Robert Downey Jr was good but didn't like the story.

I think Superman is still the best superhero movie, followed by Spiderman 2 and The Dark Knight.

It was waaaay too long!! Good thing I didn't have to pay for the ticket!! It was a rated R movie but there were kids in there definitely not 18! Parents can bring there 8 year old child into the theater even if its rated R!!! I don't feel sorry for the parents if the kids had nightmares and kept them up all night!!

Yeah the Christopher Reeve movie, not Superman returns - that was pants.
