Dear All,

Good Evening.. My husband and I are getting ready to file for the AOS (green card).. Our lease is up in July and we have started to think about moving. We live in a suburb of Chicago but would like to live in the city of chicago. Will this delay the card..

thanks in advance...

You have to do a change of address with USCIS. However, even with letting USCIS know of your new address, mail still gets send to the original address.

If it were me, I wouldn't move. I'd rather renew the lease for another 6 months and know that the green card will get there safe and sound. :)

PS: you can change your address online, by mail and on the phone.

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.

It won't delay the card but make it sure you will notify the USCIS by calling them and filing form AR-11(change of address). And a day before moving out from your old address better fill out a form at your local post office to forward all your mails from your old address to your new address.

USCIS mail is not forwarded with a change of address at the post office, any USCIS mail will be returned.

If you can not delay your move then you need to be very pro-active about checking your address change.

You will need to complete form AR-11 on-line, I would also mail a copy and then 1 week after you did the change of address on line call the 1-800 line and check what address they have in the system. You also need to make a infopass appointment at your new local office and check what address they have for your case.

If you get called for your Adjustment interview chack with the interviewing officer what address they will be sending your Greencard to.

Do all of that and you should/maybe will get your Greencard delivered to your new address.

Good Luck
