sorry for the delayed reply. I only surf this board on workdays, and was banned by kim and russ for 48 anyway because some indian person got offended when i gave my opinion on india.

suspended, not banned. banned is permanent.

I'm sure it was an educated one.

she does throw dishes occasionally, and i don't think she will ever stop. i kinda like it, and it creates an excuse to go shopping with her, which is always fun.

how sweet.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Having lived in India for several months and seen 15 different areas of it, I would have some experience on which to base an opinion. My comments were limited to my direct observations as a business traveler.

As for the dishes, well, some people like women with a temper. Women with polarised personalities are capable of extreme love and devotion, as well as occasional rage. The trick is finding one that has a reasonable balance. This is a part of the chinese character that in USA would be regarded as problematic. Consider me acculturated.

Regardless, shopping with my wife is always fun. She enjoys it so much, and looks great in whatever she buys. She is interviewing with two modeling agencies in about a month.

I love how you describe these things in the manner of someone shopping for fresh produce.

No kidding. I think Pfizer's stock value is going up as a result of this thread alone.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I resent the implication.

I met my wife while I was working in China. I had been in Luoyang for 9 months and was working 80 hour weeks, and the last thing I wanted was a wife. A coworker of mine was picking up lunch one Saturday in a plaza on our way back from shopping for the office furniture. He went into a restaraunt while I waited outside with our bikes. A girl walked up to me and told me in english that if I was a lost tourist she could connect me with my tour group ( my wife had a shop in the market, and worked as a translator or tour guide occasionally).

I told her I was not a lost tourist, rather a resident. We fell into a conversation about the history of Luoyang (her field of expertise as a tour guide). I asked her to join me for dinner to continue the conversation. I saved her phone number because fluent english speakers are so rare in Luoyang. We became friends over the next few months, and eventually fell in love.
