We entered the US today with an IR-1 visa. Do they mail the green card? If so, to what address? While our case was processing at NVC, I moved. I notified NVC of my new address. USCIS still has my old address. So wondering which one they will use.

No telling. Probably the old one, if that's what USCIS has. They do the mailing. You might get lucky and they'll use the address on the DS 230 but I wouldn't count on it.

You should receive the greencard in the mail in a couple of weeks. It is usually mailed out to the address that is on file with USCIS, you should call them and get your address updated, since you notified them about the move.

Hi. Welcome to the United States! You should be getting your 10-year GC soon in the mail. My husband entered on an IR-1 visa in December 2008 and his greencard got here in like 2-3 weeks along with his social security card. :star: Did you notice what address was on the immigrant data summary that you gave at the POE? Cause that is the address they will most likely use.

Usually your spouse will receive I-551 Permanent resident card, also known as Green Card, in 30 days.

US CBP employee should confirm the mail address for the card delivery when they interview you guys from POE.

That's the address USCIS will use for I-551 card delivery.

*P.S. I-551 card is actually pink-kind of backgound color. It used be green color background color one time.

they use the address you provided on DS-230

Not in our case. With our DS-230 we provided my FIL's address because we were wanting to move out of our then address asap (was too small). We came to US but could't move out asap because of delay on getting SSNso we waited out for SSN before moving to new place. The current address we are in wanted to have my SSN too so that they can add me with their lease.

Anyways we got my green card on our then address rather than my FIL getting it. It worked out for us, because I got my GC and then 2 days later I got my SSN, so we were stuck in that old apartment.

So I am not so sure where they would send out the GC, as someone else have suggested contact post office and do the post forwarding, make sure you enroll your wife's name also with post office as the GC will come addressed to her.

USCIS are truly idiots. I just called them about this address thing. They said wait for the welcome letter. If you dont get the card 30 days after the welcome letter call us back.

My question: What if I never get the welcome letter?

Answer: Sir if you don't get the G/C thirty days after the welcome letter, please call us back.

I say again: Well if you send the welcome letter to the wrong address, how will ever know when the 30 days begins.

Answer: If you don't get the G/C 30 days after the welcome letter, please call us.

This goes on and on.

At this point I hang up. Thank god the other address is my father's address.

This phone call was like a bad example of the Abbot and Costello routine "Who's on first?"

I am so happy to be done with those morons for a long time.

Hopefully they'll use the DS-230 address.

Don't know about the address thing, but I entered Texas 1 month ago, got 2 welcome letters, but still no greencard...

The RECEIPT date on the welcome notice is 10 days after I entered; the notice date varies depending on whether it is welcome notice 1, welcome notice 2, etc... ;-)

If I don't get my GC by 30 days of the RECEIPT DATE, I will call them.

I CANNOT track online with the SRC receipt date no for some reasons... they told me maybe because it is too recent (sounds like typical nonsense!)

Good luck with USCIS!
