How long did customs take when you entered on K-1?

Hi all... Since most people reading this forum are already in the States I'm wondering if you can tell me how long it took you to clear customs when you entered on your K-1. Nigel is flying in on Wednesday and I want to bring my family to the airport with me to greet him but don't know how long he'll be so I can't really tell them when to get there. I assume it'll take him longer than usual to get through customs since he'll have paperwork for them to check, fill out, etc. He's flying into Washington Dulles but feedback from any airport experience would be great.

Thanks,

Christine

I came into the United States over Cincinnati. The time through immigrations was 5 minutes (I had to correct something on my sheet, that is why it took so long). Then another 10 to 15 to pick up my luggage.

I entered through Newark and it took about 30 mins. The first customs officer was chatting me up saying how cute I was (ridiculous since I was entering on a fiance visa) so he took his merry time and then I had to sit in another place and wait for immigration officers to process my paperwork. The luggage took longer than the immigration paperwork.

About 30 minutes for my wife in JFK. I flew with her but didn't go through immigration with her. If I had to do it over I would have asked to go along.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

about an hour waiting in line at immigration

and about another hour in the waiting room, i could see my envelope at the bottom of a huge stack, it was pretty terribly organized. not to mention there was a crazy lady trying to smuggle children into mexico or something screaming about her rights and all the employees kept stopping their work to see what was going on.

15-20 mins in JFK (NYC)..... it was all very painless and I got the temp EAD stamp. However your bags are still left on the conveyor belt (anyone could take them) and I nearly lost one when I finally got to retreive them after immigration.

Still after reading the other posts here.........I'm so glad that I went through JFK... hours in immigration!!! what a nightmare :(

I crossed at Ambassador Bridge in Detroit on June 8th, and it took about an hour. I got their right before a shift change, so nobody wanted to deal with anything that took more than a couple minutes. The officer who worked on mine was very nice, but had never done a K-1 before so I think it took a little longer than usual.

It was the beginning of a 22 hour trip, so 1 hour didn't make a big difference.
