The whole name change thing from a marriage is kind of weird... but from what I got basically, you could change your name to anything you want once you marry, it doesn't have to be in any way related to your current name or your husbands name, you just decide what your name is going to be and start using it, and notify a few places of the change like the dmv, etc. Marriage license = license to have a zany new name for women... men have to do some kind of court procedure to change their names... it sucks... but that's the breaks in life. Not changing your name shouldn't cause any problems, it's somewhat common these days.

i'm having a problem here...when i try to add our aos files in our uscis account it doesnt recognize them, how long should we wait to do that? :huh:

You have three different numbers for AOS if you filed all the documents (the AOS, AP and EAD applications), each one can show up at different times. I think the AOS itself showed up pretty quick but EAD for example didn't show up until it was approved... I think the AOS showed up pretty much as soon as we had the receipt numbers but I could be wrong. In the march filers thread there were a lot of people who could only add 1 or 2 of the three numbers to their accounts, some could do them all and some couldn't see any... traditionally after going to the biometrics appointment a lot of people suddenly could enter their numbers, but I don't think that is a general rule of thumb now, like it used to be (based on reading the forum).

In short it's probably nothing to worry about to much, it's normal now for that kind of stuff not to work right...

Thanks guys, well i really dont worry so much about it and knowing its the government site....our previous case still shows pending :) i was simply curious :) will try again

I-130 for Parents (Mom and Dad)

3.15.2014: Mailed I-130 Packet for Mom and Dad

3.21.2014: Received email notification with case # for both petitions; case forwarded to NBC for processing

3.21.2014: Check cashed

3.22.2014: Hard copy NOA1 received

4.08.2014: Both I-130 approved (notification received via email) - It only took three weeks!!!

4.11.2014: Received NOA2 approval notice in the mail.

5.01.2014: Called NVC to ask for status of paperwork. Advised they received both application on 4.28. Advised to call in 30 business days for an update.

6.02.2014: Email notification received from NVC that shows parents' NVC case number and instructions to pay AOS Fee and fill out DS 261.

6.03.2014: Paid AOS fee ($88 for both petitions)

N400:
4.26.2013: Mailed N400 Packet

5.21.2013: Biometrics

7.18.2013: Testing and Interview

9.25.2013: Oath Ceremony

NOA2 for her!!

Awesome news all around!

We're getting married this Saturday. We're taking my fiance's parents and grandmother to a park and ALSO having my family and best friend on speaker phone during the ceremony. :) Nothing huge, I have a dress, flowers and rings all picked out, and we're going into Boston for 2 nights in a GORGEOUS 4* hotel... there will be pics!

Good to hear the progress, congrats on the weddings and NOA's for AOS!

Our lawyer was meant to take our case back to court yesterday be we haven't heard anything back yet. Darn it

I am going to the Australian embassy tomorrow to find out about chris immigrating to australia....

I agree Gemmie. They should be held accountable for not complying with the court I would have thought too!!!

Hope you have a fantastic day Saturday. It will be special no matter what as it will mark your new life together. Its great to hear that you will be taking time to enjoy your new beginning together after the wedding, you faced so much and still managed to get to where you wanted to go. March 7th - POE Newark, NY

March 30th - received SSN

April 25th - Married

April 27th - Changed name on SSN

AOS

May 12th - AOS paperwork sent

Aug 20th - Interview in Philly

Aug 21st - GC production ordered

Aug 24th - Welcome to the USA letter received

Aug 31st - Rec'd son's GC

Sept 2nd - Rec'd my GC ....all set for 2 years now

LIFTING CONDITIONS

June 20th sent I-751 to Vermont

June 25th received at Vermont.

June 27th NOA date

July 2nd Packet returned as section not filled in correctly---how stupid am I?!?!?

July 5th Packet sent back (overnight delivery) to USCIS with form filled in correctly

July 6th Packet received and signed for at Vermont

August 18th Biometrics Appointment in Philly........JULY 27TH EARLY BIOMETRICS DONE

Nearly 1 year later!!!
....received notification for my son to get biometrics done!(May 15th 2012)

May 11th 2012 Son's biometrics done early

June 2012 - Notice of lifting of conditions received

June 12th - texts- GC in production

June 13th - text- GC in post

June 15th - Received GC's!!!!!!

Heard from the lawyer this afternoon, he seems to think the Judge will hand down that they will be responsible to pay all court and lawyer fees associated with the rest of this case. If that is the ruling our lawyer plans to make them hurt (rack up the costs quick) in a hope that will bring them to getting a move on about it.

I am not sure that will be the ruling though.
