How is it for the driving license whats the first thing to get started?

Step one, read the instructions, you can get them at a license beaurea (however that is spelled)/dmv location. Then you take the learners permit, some people takes classes etc, after getting your permit, get as much time in driving with someone who has a license as possible, then you take the test, it's not too complicated... however, unlike american citizens foreigners probably have to wait an extra couple weeks for DHS to send the actual license, if you haven't done AOS yet, then the license is probably only good for the amount of time left on your I-94 (maybe a few weeks longer than that), if you have an EAD already that might allow them to give a longer license period of say a year, but I don't know... I just know if you go before AOS they will likely issue you a license but the expiration date will likely be less than a year away. BTW, my wife is going to take the written test today, that'll be the easy part... the hard part... getting the necessary experience driving to pass the actual driving exam.

im thinking we are for sure going to get an attorney onit for his adjustment cause this was allot of stress so somone else can deal with it.

AOS is a cake walk, and fairly easy, you applied for a visa for a man from the scary towels on heads section of the world, that automatically means there is going to be some ludicrous background checks and special processing etc to get the visa... it's pretty much common knowledge on this site. You can do the AOS on your own, and I wouldn't expect it to be any more complicated than anyone else here, even if it takes longer than average, you'll still be together and I believe the EAD/AP is pretty much always done within 3 months or less (I think 2 for the AP). I'm guessing that there are still some extra hoops to jump through even in AOS for people from the middle east... but the only thing I can think of is that they are more likely to insist on doing the AOS interview (most k-1's AOS's are processed at CSC and no interview is done usually). Anyway, save your money on the AOS.

Like what Maliciant said, AOS is easy! No lawyer needed! I used a lawyer for the K1 process but AOS not needed. If you can follow instructions then you're set!

PM me for any AP or AR relating to the NBI

Isn't there someone in the office that is covering for your lawyer until he gets back? I can't believe the way you are being treated!!!! I think they should get their bum back t o their office and sort this out for you!!!!!! Surely, if the court has been involved people cant be dragging their feet further?!!?!?

Yeah, that's what we have been doing, calling DOS daily and contacting the embassy as frequently as possible, and making senatorial and congressional inquiries often.

That's a good point, what the heck is the deal, someone should be able to give you information about your case even if your lawyer is in germany. Isn't there a paralegal, assistant, casemanager or something in your lawyers office that actually probably does the bulk of the work? I work in a law office, and while we may not be typical (we have a case manager for every attorney... actually they now outnumber the attorney, as I understand it typically law firms tend to have one assistant for each lawyer... but the boss figures this way attorney's can spend their time in court and doing the things only lawyers are legally able/trained to do vs pushing paperwork which just about anyone can do), but there should be someone who can tell you whats going on.
