I mailed in my I-129F on August 2, they cashed the check on the 4th. Now we wait...

We are so excited! My GF works in China, and I am flying to see her again in Oct. Last time we met up was to visit some of her family in Ireland. It was a nice excuse to see the Emerald Isle, anyway.

We are hoping for an interview during her winter break from teaching, when she can fly to Manila (Jan. to first half of Feb.).

I love this place!

Bruce

hi, this group is actually for August 2008... there should be an aug 09 thread somewhere....

Good luck on your journey!

You sure you are posting on the right forum? August 2009 and not 2008?

Hey guys, today is the one year anniversary of sending the K1 petition! :dancing: I remember thinking "this time next year, it will be over"... and it is. It feels really good to not have that horrible dreading feeling of leaving my loved one.

We picked a place for our ceremony, it's a little park in Plymouth MA. There's a bridge in the middle where we hope to get married depending on how busy the park is. We're going real early to avoid people. And then hoping to all go to breakfast together before my fiance and I head off for a couple of days on Cape Cod. We're looking at Labour Day weekend which is close to the end of my 90 days so we're trying to get the AOS paperwork done before... then add a marriage certificate and BOOM - off to the mail. Then I can get my AP approved for a UK Christmas visit.

I'm so glad to hear of peoples progress here with visa and GC approvals. :)

Other than that, it's been really busy here, with my mother, sister and brother around.

Hyena, where'd you get the swine flu? MIght've missed it here in the thread. Moving to another continent apparently makes one busy. ;)

I got it in Bangkok. It's just a really nasty case of the flu. I haven't been this sick in 9 1/2 years.

All is well...she loves my 7 and 9 yr old kids...we're alll going to washington dc today. She's in awe of our country...no littering, trash cans everywhere (and trash pickup)...everyone has luxurious houses (in comparison to her neighborhood where a hose outside is the water source between the outhouse and the house/barn). She wishes her family could come see it. I told her get them to speak English and we could figure out how. I'm sure she's going through guilt and culture shock but she seems happy!

My wife landed her first regular job (I say regular because we have been cleaning my work office on weekends and some other minor side work has come up). She's the hostest for a japanese restaurant (rumored to have the best sushi in the area... no one else seems to dispute that either so I suspect it's true). The owner/manager is filipino which probably has a lot to do with her landing the job, and there are apparently several chinese working there, she made no mention of any japanese people working in the japanese restaurant (but hey, this is america... we have thousands of chinese restaurants, mexican restaurants etc, even quite a few japanese restaurants... but maybe 1 and often none for any other asian country.... I think we have 1 korean and 1 vietnamese place, about 6 or 7 japanese steak houses, a LOT of thai places, countless chinese restaurants (most of which are buffets).

That was a bit of a side rant... like I said, the good news is my wife landed her first job in the US, it even has some benefits but I don't really know the details on that yet, it'll be awesome if I can drop her off my works health insurance (I don't know for sure what they provide for health insurance but apparently they have something... then I don't know if it's comparable to what my office uses... I just know it costs 340 a month to add my wife to it.... I'd have to compare what they provide to make sure the coverage is reasonable before making any changes... as well as make sure this job doesn't fall through after a short time period). All that good news aside though, her working hours are pretty much the opposite of mine, I work 9-3 (those numbers being pretty flexible but that's the normal hours) and she'll be working 4 to closing (I think about 10 pm).

Awesome!

I gotta get her to bone up on her English...there's a Japanese steak house near me and the caucasians just don't look right in kimonos.....I also need to teach her how to drive (she took the class in Bangkok and even got her international license....I realized it only means she paid for it...still can't drive so how to work)?

I haven't even looked at AOS or anything yet. I think I'm supposed to wait 2 weeks for SS card till she's "in the system"? then do that get marriage license, marry then AOS?
