Congrats on the approval, not many august filers left to go for NOA2's now.

HD: I think it was about 3 working days before the visa delivery in my case... I bet you get it monday.

ETA: I demand... adobo for lunch... and I'm pretty sure I'm getting it... even if it's a leftover.

So, wow, maybe it was coincidence - but night and day difference between my experience with calling USCIS service number and with calling NVC today.

I got an email notification that the approval notice USCIS had sent had been returned by USPS, and to call and update my mailing address (me being the petitioner). While this didn't impact the Visa process any, I figured I might as well make sure my address was right just in case. Even for something as simple as this, the person on the phone was rather curt and impersonal ... not a friendly voice at all. Rather glad I wasn't trying to get any other information from them.

On the other hand, when I called the NVC to see if they received the petition from the USCIS, the operator there was very friendly, and took time to answer some questions I had and was quite patient with me making sure I had all the numbers written down correctly :)

Is this a universal experience, or just me?

Oh, and according to the NVC op, Visa petition was sent to the Tokyo embassy on March 5th! w00t!!!

I talked to many NVC employees during our 50-something days of AP and not a single one of them was friendly. They acted like parrots, repeating the same line over and over again. Some couldn't even understand English or, basically, speak it.

Ok, maybe I was just lucky :) Sucks to hear about your experience. You think'd that want to try to get at least someone compassionate people to man these lines - it is peoples lives their dealing with here, not simple product complaints like most call centers.

In other news, I got a call from my fiancee this morning that she just received the packet from the embassy today! So now the ball is back in our court :)

Hey Mia, it's a dismissed credit card bill from 2006 that sparked a red flag, the NBI in the Philippines wants a written letter of explanation when and how it was dismissed, weather it's been paid and all that BS! Really stupid reason to hold up their VISA's!

PM me for any AP or AR relating to the NBI

LESSON for all you folks, when hiring a lawyer or attorney, DO YOU RESEARCH!

This is what my attorney missed, I understand that there are so many embassies and every one of them have different rules but if you are working on a client for a specific country you should have a guideline on what that embassy requires RIGHT?

Anyways he missed this! I did my research but I missed this one also! ughhhh! If only I knew and found this earlier the SO and kids would have their VISA'S already.

If we ever get out of this Administrative Review, AOS will be done by myself PERSONALLY! No more lawyers. Can you imagine he is charging me $5000 for AOS? I'm not RICH! SHOOT!

But KIDS! now you see, anyone in this forum reading this, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH! an attorney will only put everything together for you! They will also only FOLLOW UP ONCE A MONTH on your AP/AR case! I been calling the embassy myself every week, I want to be on the loop and in the know! right now I am glad that they recognize my voice now in the immigrant VISA unit in the USEM in Manila. But this only because I'm a citizen and at the same time can still speak tagalog(Philippine National Dialect).

But hey no use in beating myself up for missing this, I can regret all I want and it wont change anything, I just have to accept this as a learning experience and move on and wait, follow up and be positive.......

You may contact NBI at (632) 523-82-31 to 38. For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is considered valid only for one year from the date it is issued.

Fred, as i can understand you had some troubles with your attorney, we were thinking in the beginning to take one, but Gosh when we found out they are not cheaper at all, we decided to do it ourselves :D

but you said he's a very good friend of yours how could he miss that??

Good luck buddy

YEAH! he is a good friend but it still caused our delay. I have no idea how he missed that! I myself missed that as well! I was beating myself for this unfortunate mistake but too late now. I just try to make it as positive as I can. I just think of it as it's still too cold for them to come and that spring or early summer would be best so they can adjust to the weather. It takes a ton of strong will and motivation to be able to think passed this mistake but that's all I can do. As frustrating as it is you just have to make the best out of everything. If by July we still don;t have a VISA I am planning on going back.

PM me for any AP or AR relating to the NBI
