Speaking of life in the US and the like.. what kind of documents did you all bring with you or plan to bring?

The sealed envelope, of course... but what about everything else? Birth certificates, school degrees/diplommas... drivers licences? It's starting to eat me alive, all the preparation for things I know, in fact, so little about.

I passed one part of a big exam today.. 3 2/3 to go. And thesis and two or three seminars. Uhoh. But, things are moving and it feels good to have accomplished at least something.

Well done on passing the exam.

I got an A on my psychology essay (about mate-choice, interestingly) today, good news all around.

As for documents.. the brown envelope, the X-ray, birth certificate, NOA1/2, tax returns and all the other financial info that I brought to the interview.. scrapbooks of my friends, portfolios of my university work, my degree is being posted to me.

Congrats on the A

Congrats, Gemmie! :star:

As for the papers, yes, I plan to bring everything that was used for the visa process, but then... I have no idea what to add to that pile. Probably anything and everything I'll think of.

What happens with medical records? What shape are they in, in your respective countries? Mine should in fact stay in Croatia, I think, if I intend to keep my insurance there, which I will (we have a really good system here and it's pretty much free for a citizen) because it can't hurt, even if I use it only as health-related.. tourism. :) Should I take a copy with me? Or is the K1 medical enough?

Aaaaaaaa. Hate preparing things like this.

Hi everyone Ive been absent, going nuts with the AOS paperwork!!!

For anybody who has the same question as mine:

What do I put in question 23 Form I-864? I put my gross income from my jobs, and will attach letter of employment. It was confusing cause in the instructions they say that the count the total income from the 1040(which is way below the poverty req. cause I bought a condo and its is counted as a loss), but according to VJ people, no. Only put the money you make in a year.

Do I have to fill out a form I-693(supplement form for vaccines) here is the answer:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=101202

Hope it helps another frustrated VJer.

Take care,

In addition to all the junk you needed for your visa, your school records are important, and if you have medical records bring a COPY of them, even if you maintain your health insurance in some other country because it's free, you might have some emergency here that requires immediate attention and it's always a good idea to have your medical records handy.

I'm going to guess that in your case cuchita there might not be a lot of opportunity to use that medical, it's going to require something major, but not immediate... which I guess leaves pregnancy and cancer, probably most everything else is less than the price of a plane ticket and it probably won't be practical to travel once you are working unless it's something major, with plenty of warning time but a short treatment period (so cancer might not be practical unless you move home for the duration of treatment, which is probably worth it if it's serious).

For question 23 put your annual income, before taxes, no write offs etc, just whatever you make in a year before taxes.

As for the 693 question... the thread you linked seems pretty difinitive but there has been a lot of mixed results on that... my wife did her vaccinations at her medical and got the DS-3025 document, there are very few approved doctors in missouri and they are of course a few hundred miles away so we went with the slight RFE gamble of just sending the DS-3025 document instead of the I-693 supplement, we dont' know what the result is yet but I'm fairly certain it'll be fine, if not we'll make another trip up to STL to get the document transcribed (or go the dr tom route that seems to be fairly popular).

Oh yeah, starting to get impatient about that AOS/EAD, my wife is gettin some cabin fever I think, spending so much time at home, all we can do is wait though (and the online system for AOS doesn't seem very reliable, most people can only track part of it and then there is the usual case of a lot of times updates not showing up when people already have noa2's or other weirdness).

Wow another yessssssssssssssssssssssssss  after a while Congratz Donna!.

Maliciant: I will send everything today, thanks for the help!. It seems they are not paying too much mind to the medical thing unless you have a contagious disease. They din't give my husband any type of medical forms, they were all in the misterious envelope the doctor told him. But in case we get ref I know what it will be. (Prya got not cause he found a job!). He got a EAD stamp till mid July and the employer told him that he will only hire him till that time but if EAD card comes with Residence then that's another story. Or well maybe he can just get re-hired.

I feel so happy now, cause I got him to help with our baby, the three of us went out food shopping for the first time, and I felt so happy cause he took her out of the car and hold her all the time, sometimes I felt so frustrated I had to do everything by myself. Just wanted to express how I feel now :P
